French Open 2025 Results, Day 2 Bracket Winners, Losers, Highlights at Roland-Garros
Taylor Fritz and Francisco Cerundolo are leaving France earlier than planned.
A year after reaching the fourth round of the French Open—a career-best personal mark—Fritz was stunned by Daniel Altmaier, putting a sour end to a difficult spring.
Just hours later, the men's draw was dealt another blow as Cerundolo fell to Gabriel Diallo in straight sets.
Cerundolo entered this year's tournament after reaching the fourth round of the French Open in back-to-back years and was considered a dark-horse contender after reaching the Madrid Open semifinal, where he defeated both Alexander Zverev and 19-year-old Jakub Mensik.
In the women’s draw, American compatriot and No. 9 seed Emma Navarro was left equally stunned, managing to win just a single game against 22-year-old Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.
Aside from the three upsets, both defending champions Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek began their campaigns with routine straight-set victories.
In the most intriguing women’s matchup of the day, No. 10 seed Paula Badosa defeated four-time major champion Naomi Osaka in a three-set thriller.
Below, you'll find all of Monday's results along with the biggest takeaways.

Carlos Alcaraz Coasts To Easy Win
3 of 5
Carlos Alcaraz could not have asked for a more dominant start to the French Open.
The defending champion coasted to a straight-set victory, winning 77 percent of points on his first serve and 84 percent of points at the net.
Aside from four double faults, the 22-year-old Spaniard showed few signs of rust, impressing the French crowd with his impeccable athleticism and outstanding dropshot.
Alcaraz's second-round opponent, Fabian Marozsan, defeated him in straight sets in their previous clay-court match at the 2023 Italian Open.
However, Marozsan is not in peak form, and it's expected once again that Alcaraz cruises to a straight-set victory.
Taylor Fritz, Francisco Cerundolo Fall In Major Upsets
4 of 5
Despite struggling throughout the spring, Taylor Fritz entered the French Open with renewed energy, hoping to build off his 2024 result, when he reached the fourth round—a career best.
Instead, his journey ends after one match.
Fritz was dominant on serve, winning 79 points behind his first serve while hitting 14 aces; however, his overall game was nowhere near his best, as he committed 41 unforced errors and failed to convert on some crucial break point opportunities.
Meanwhile, No. 18 seed Francisco Cerundolo, who made the fourth round in back-to-back years, fell to Gabriel Diallo, who displayed a dominant serving performance, winning 79 percent of points behind his first serve while facing just one break point.
Iga Swiatek Begins In Top Form, Emma Navarro And Naomi Osaka Bow Out Early
5 of 5
Iga Swiatek proved once again why she's a four-time champion at Roland Garros.
Swiatek won 70 percent of points on her first serve but, most importantly, committed only 17 unforced errors.
In the biggest shock of the day, No. 9 seed Emma Navarro won just one game against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.
The 24-year-old American won 44 percent of points behind her first serve and only hit four winners.
Meanwhile, four-time major champion Naomi Osaka bowed out to No. 10 seed Paula Badosa.
Osaka grabbed the opening set before Badosa ultimately locked in, breaking both of Osaka's first two service games in the second set to take full control of the match.
