The Jamaica men's basketball team may have some firepower in future competitions.
Daniel Blake of the Jamaica Observer reported Amen Thompson of the Houston Rockets and Ausar Thompson of the Detroit Pistons said they are considering representing Jamaica in future FIBA competitions. They may also play for the country in the Olympics down the line.
Blake explained their father is Jamaican and that the twins have started the citizenship process necessary to potentially play for the nation.

They told reporters it is something they are strongly considering and would be a dream come true:
If the Thompson twins do suit up for Jamaica, they won't be the only notable names to do so.
Norman Powell of the Los Angeles Clippers announced he is available to play for the country during the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Pre-Qualifiers.
"I'm super excited to join Team Jamaica," Powell said. "Coach [Nick] Turner and I have worked on this for a while, and now it's a reality. I'm ready to grind and need everyone's support to make it happen."
RealGM also noted the Jamaican national team is attempting to recruit Nick Richards (Phoenix Suns), Isaiah Stewart (Detroit Pistons) and Josh Minott (Minnesota Timberwolves) to join the squad.
The Thompson are just 22 years old and would give the team foundational building blocks for years to come.
Amen Thompson was just named to the NBA's All-Defensive First Team this season and helped lead the Rockets to the second-best record in the Western Conference. The No. 4 overall pick of the 2023 NBA draft also averaged 14.1 points per game as more of an offensive threat in his second season.
Ausar Thompson is also an impressive defender and helped lead the Pistons to the playoffs for the first time since the 2018-19 campaign.
The No. 5 overall pick of the 2023 NBA draft averaged 10.1 points a night and is part of a potentially bright future in Detroit.
And that future may include playing for Jamaica.
