Pete Carroll Says Raiders Are 'Trying to Infuse' Tom Brady's 'Mentality' Into Team
Even though Tom Brady isn't a staple at the Las Vegas Raiders team facilities, head coach Pete Carroll made it clear they are trying to make it feel like he is around the team.
Appearing on the Brock & Salk show on Seattle Sports 710 AM (starts at 17:45 mark), Carroll explained the Raiders are "trying to infuse Tom’s mentality" onto the organization as they look to challenge for a playoff spot in the AFC.

Carroll didn't elaborate on how they were trying to do that, though there is a book available that lays out Brady's principles on mental toughness.
It's also unclear exactly how involved Brady is with the organization since becoming a minority owner in October 2024. For example, there were reports leading up to the draft that Brady was "very much involved" in the Raiders' process for their first-round pick at No. 6 overall.
Brady later said on the Impaulsive podcast (h/t David Rumsey of Front Office Sports) he "wasn’t a part of any evaluation process" for the draft.
One thing that can be said with certainty is Carroll took the Raiders job because of Brady. The 73-year-old admitted as much while speaking to reporters at the NFL scouting combine in February:
"When Tom wanted to do this and he wanted to be part of this thing, that changed my outlook on what could be possible. I’ve found out since how consistently—he is a great competitive mentality and spirit, and he passed it right to the rest of the ownership group that has been incredibly fired up and jacked to do something special."
Anything the Raiders organization to do that might mimic what worked for Brady can't be considered a bad thing. He's the most successful quarterback in NFL history and had a 23-year career.
Even though the Raiders are unlikely to have the same type of success over the next 23 seasons that Brady did during his career, anything that helps them get closer to being a contender in the AFC is a huge step forward for a franchise that has only made the playoffs twice since 2003.
