Tom Brady Reportedly 'Very Much Involved' In Raiders' Decision on No. 6 NFL Draft Pick

Adam WellsApr 23, 2025

In his first NFL draft as a member of the Las Vegas Raiders' ownership group, Tom Brady is expected to have a hand in what the team does with the No. 6 overall pick on Thursday night.

According to The Ringer's Todd McShay, Brady is "very much involved" in the Raiders' process with their first-round selection.

McShay projected the Raiders to select Texas offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. at No. 6, noting Brady and general manager John Spytek are "big on culture" and Banks is regarded as one of the "highest-character players" in this year's class.

Since being approved as a partial owner of the Raiders in October, Brady has taken a hands-on approach to key decisions for the organization. He was reportedly a key voice in Pete Carroll being hired as head coach in January.

This offseason has been very encouraging for the Raiders. In addition to hiring Carroll, they upgraded at quarterback by acquiring Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks. Maxx Crosby quickly put an end to any trade speculation by signing a three-year, $106.5 million extension in January.

There's still a lot of work for Spytek and the front office to do for the Raiders to become a playoff contender in the AFC, but their situation is the best it's been in years.

This is before the Raiders make their first pick in the 2025 draft. They could go in any number of directions. B/R's NFL Scouting Department is projecting them to trade down for the No. 9 selection and take Michigan cornerback Will Johnson.

It's still unclear how effective Brady will be as an influence on the organization, but there's little doubt his voice is definitely being heard by everyone else with the Raiders right now.

We will learn a lot about what Brady thinks about this Raiders roster based on what they do in the first round of the draft on Thursday night.
