LeBron James Hypes Tyrese Haliburton, Rips 'Overrated' Narrative amid Pacers-Cavs G5
It doesn't seem like LeBron James is one of the NBA players who thinks Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton is overrated.
The Los Angeles Lakers star took to social media during the first half of Tuesday's Game 5 between the Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers and said Haliburton was "hooping" and "someone everyone would love to play with!"
The King also added, "Where the lames who said he was overrated??!!"
James and Haliburton have never played together in the NBA, but they were teammates on the United States men's basketball team for the 2024 Paris Olympics and helped bring back gold for America.
While Haliburton didn't see much playing time during the Games, he undoubtedly bonded with some of his teammates and clearly has the respect of James.
Last month, The Athletic's Sam Amick and Josh Robbins revealed the 25-year-old received the most votes in an NBA player poll asking who they believed was the most overrated player in the league.
There has since been an "overrated" narrative surrounding the Pacers playmaker during the playoffs with Donovan Mitchell signaling for the Cleveland crowd to stop chanting "overrated" at him with the man himself seemingly drawing inspiration from it.
After leading Indiana in a dramatic comeback to eliminate the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 5 of their first-round series, Haliburton took to social media and said "Overrate THAT."
Haliburton has been one of the biggest stars in the playoffs, and his Pacers entered Tuesday's contest against Cleveland just one win away from reaching the Eastern Conference Finals for the second straight season.
The narrative has flipped a bit with some calling him "underrated" compared to "overrated."
As long as he and the Pacers keep winning, the respect is sure to follow. But none of it will likely mean as much as comments from his peers such as James, especially since it was a player poll that started the narrative in the first place.
