Cam Ward Eyes Being 1st QB in NFL History to Win Super Bowl in Rookie Season
Miami's Cam Ward has a lofty goal for his rookie season as he prepares for the 2025 NFL draft.
Ward told CBS Sports' Aditi Kinkhabwala that he wants to hoist a Lombardi Trophy at the end of his 2025 campaign.
"Hopefully, win a Super Bowl," Ward said. "I want to be the first rookie to do it in their first year. It's a lot to put out there, but willing to do anything to try and make it happen and try to bring that to the organization as much as I can."

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap ๐ธ

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Not only has no rookie quarterback ever won a title, but no first-year passer has ever started in a Super Bowl.
Several players have come close, with Washington Commanders signal-caller Jayden Daniels helping his team reach the NFC Championship Game last season. Brock Purdy also accomplished the same feat as a rookie with the San Francisco 49ers during his 2022 campaign.
Pittsburgh Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger is the youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl, doing so during his second NFL season at 23 years old.
There's reportedly a feeling around the league that Ward will end up on the Tennessee Titans with the No. 1 overall pick in Thursday's draft.
He's coming off a stellar senior season at Miami, throwing for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns to go along with a 67.2 completion percentage. He was also picked off nine times.
A potential Super Bowl victory for the Titans would be extremely surprising, as they earned the top pick in the draft by finishing with a 3-14 record in 2024. Tennessee is in the midst of a three-year playoff drought and hasn't made it to the Super Bowl since the 1999 season.
Still, Ward's mindset is admirable even if an immediate championship may be a long shot.
The first round of the 2025 draft will begin on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.
