
Kristian Campbell Says He Couldn't Pass Up 'life-changing' $60m Red Sox Contract
Boston Red Sox second baseman Kristian Campbell is feeling a sense of security after signing his first contract extension.
The rookie made the opening day roster out of Spring Training and inked an 8-year, $60 million contract just a few days into the season. The deal could be worth as much as $100 million over 10 years if the Red Sox opt to utilize the two club options at their disposal.
With his newfound financial gain, Campbell called it a "life-changing opportunity."

"It was a life-changing opportunity for me and my family," Campbell said, per the Associated Press. "It was something I couldn't pass up."
Campbell is Boston's No. 2 prospect and had a meteoric rise through the franchise's farm system after being a fourth-round pick in 2023. He played in three levels of the minors in 2024, hitting .330/.438/.558. across the levels and was named the Minor League Player of the Year by Baseball America.
He has carried that momentum into the 2025 season, slashing .423/.515/.808 with two home runs and five RBIs through eight games. The Red Sox have started the season 4-4 and have hopes to be a contender in the American League.
