Report: Warriors to Sign Kevin Knox to Contract for Rest of 2024-25 NBA Season

The Golden State Warriors will sign forward Kevin Knox to a contract for the remainder of the 2024-25 season, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

Knox opened the year with the Santa Cruz Warriors, Golden State's G League affiliate, before signing a pair of 10-day contracts with the team starting on Feb. 19.

The No. 9 overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft appeared in seven contests with Golden State, averaging 4.0 points and 1.6 rebounds in 7.3 minutes per game.

He shot 45.8 percent from the field in his seven appearances while hitting just 27.3 percent of his attempts from behind the arc, but he connected on 43.9 percent of his threes in the G League.

Knox was briefly off the Warriors' roster after his second 10-day deal expired, allowing them to save cap space before they were required to have at least 14 players on NBA contracts once again (h/t Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area).

The 25-year-old opened his career with the New York Knicks, averaging 12.8 points and 4.5 rebounds on a nightly basis as a rookie. Efficiency and defensive issues have prevented him from finding a consistent role in the association, as he's played for five teams throughout his seven years in the NBA.

Knox owns career averages of 7.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game on 39.2/34.0/72.3 shooting splits.

He's looked comfortable in a depth role for a Golden State team that owns a 13-2 record to go along with the No. 2 net rating in the league over its past 15 games (via NBA.com).

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr praised Knox following his first appearance with the team on Feb. 21.

“So proud of Kevin,” Kerr said, per Johnson. “He’s been through a lot, coming around and committing to his time in Santa Cruz and getting better and improving. I think he can help us. He only got in for a few minutes at the end, but you see the talent. I have no doubt that there’s going to be some games where we put him out there and he’s going to help.”

As Golden State battles for playoff positioning in the Western Conference standings, Knox will reportedly stick with the organization for the rest of the season.
