Luka, Austin Reaves Celebrated by Lakers Fans for Win vs. Spurs with LeBron Injured

After an initial lull without LeBron James due to a groin injury, the Los Angeles Lakers have gotten back on track thanks to the efforts of Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves.

The Lakers' backcourt duo led the charge in Monday's 125-109 victory over the San Antonio Spurs.

Reaves, in particular, has taken his game to another level with James still sidelined. He put up 30 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals in 36 minutes against the Spurs.

The 26-year-old has put up at least 28 points in his last four games on 52.9 percent shooting (42.5 percent from three on 10.0 attempts per game).

Dončić didn't have his most efficient game, yet he still nearly managed to post a triple-double. The five-time All-Star finished with 21 points on just 5-of-20 shooting, 14 assists and nine rebounds.

Reaves was the story of the game for the Lakers, with fans giving him and Dončić flowers for leading their team to victory.

The Lakers looked to be in serious trouble immediately after James got injured. They lost a season-high four straight games and dropped from second to fourth in the Western Conference standings.

This week has started on a high note for the Lakers with back-to-back wins over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday and Spurs on Monday. They are still one game behind the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets for the No. 2 seed, but all three teams have the same number of losses (25).

James is expected to be out for at least one more week, making Reaves' strong play next to Dončić even more paramount to the Lakers' short-term success.

Reaves and the Lakers will look to keep their winning ways going when they take on Nikola Jokić and the Nuggets on Wednesday at Crypto.com Arena in a showdown that could have huge implications on playoff seeding in the West.
