MLB Fantasy Baseball 2025: Top 100 Big Board, Positional Rankings, Top Sleepers

Joel ReuterMar 19, 2025

It's fantasy baseball draft season once again, with 2025 spring training wrapping up and Opening Day right around the corner.

Before we dive into this year's fantasy rankings, a bit of clarification is needed.

First, everything is based on 10- or 12-team mixed leagues with standard five-by-five rotisserie scoring for hitters (batting average, runs, home runs, RBI, stolen bases) and pitchers (wins, ERA, WHIP, strikeouts, saves).

Second, lineup construction assumes 22 active roster positions, consisting of one each for catcher, first base, second base, third base, shortstop, corner infield, middle infield and utility, along with five outfielders and nine pitchers.

Finally, to be eligible at a particular position, players must have accrued at least 10 games there in 2024 or be projected to play there regularly in 2025.

With that established, it's on to the Big Board, followed by our position-by-position rankings.

Catchers

William Contreras

Top 20 Catchers

1. William Contreras, MIL
2. Adley Rutschman, BAL
3. Yainer Diaz, HOU
4. Cal Raleigh, SEA
5. Salvador Pérez, KC
6. Will Smith, LAD
7. Willson Contreras, STL

15. Sean Murphy, ATL
16. Joey Bart, PIT
17. Connor Wong, BOS
18. Iván Herrera, STL
19. Jonah Heim, TEX
20. Francisco Alvarez, NYM

Overvalued: Francisco Alvarez, NYM (ADP: 206)

In fantasy terms, Alvarez provides the bulk of his value with his power production, and more than a few players have seen a significant downturn in their pop after returning from a broken hamate bone. Even if he only ends up missing 6-8 weeks as expected, it might be best to steer clear entirely on draft day and opt instead for an injury stash play on the waiver wire.

Undervalued: Joey Bart, PIT (ADP: 299)

Bart hit .265/.337/.462 with 11 doubles, 13 home runs and 45 RBI in 80 games with the Pirates after he was cut loose by the Giants last year. Unless Henry Davis suddenly figures things out, he does not have any real competition for the starting catcher job, and he could wind up seeing plenty of RBI opportunities hitting behind Bryan Reynolds and Oneil Cruz.

First Basemen

3 of 9
Toronto Blue Jays v Minnesota Twins
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Top 25 First Basemen

1. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., TOR
2. Bryce Harper, PHI
3. Freddie Freeman, LAD
4. Matt Olson, ATL
5. Pete Alonso, NYM
6. Josh Naylor, ARI
7. Christian Walker, HOU
8. Vinnie Pasquantino, KC
9. Triston Casas, BOS
10. Yainer Diaz, HOU
11. Salvador Perez, KC
12. Cody Bellinger, NYY
13. Willson Contreras, STL
14. Jake Burger, TEX
15. Paul Goldschmidt, NYY
16. Alec Bohm, PHI
17. Yandy Díaz, TB
18. Luis Arraez, SD
19. Michael Toglia, COL
20. Isaac Paredes, HOU
21. Alec Burleson, STL
22. Michael Busch, CHC
23. Ryan Mountcastle, BAL
24. Nathaniel Lowe, WAS
25. Spencer Steer, CIN

Overvalued: Jake Burger, TEX (ADP: 110)

Burger has slugged 63 home runs over the past two seasons with the White Sox and Marlins, but he hit just .250/.305/.488 with a 26.7 percent strikeout rate, so his contributions are somewhat limited. He will also likely hit lower in the batting order than he did in his previous stops, which will mean fewer RBI chances.

Undervalued: Vinnie Pasquantino, KC (ADP: 110)

Pasquantino was among the AL RBI leaders when he suffered a fractured hand and missed the final 27 games of the regular season. He still finished with 30 doubles, 19 home runs and 97 RBI in 131 games, and he did it with Maikel Garcia (.281 OBP) as the team's primary leadoff hitter. The addition of Jonathan India could give his already strong RBI numbers a nice bump.

20. Brendan Donovan, STL
21. Andrés Giménez, TOR
22. Michael Massey, KC
23. Ceddanne Rafaela, BOS
24. Colt Keith, DET
25. Zack Gelof, OAK

Overvalued: Andrés Giménez, TOR (ADP: 176)

Giménez is a much more valuable real-life player than fantasy player, as his elite defense provides nothing in the way of rotisserie benefits. He hit .252/.298/.340 with nine home runs, 63 RBI, 64 runs scored and 30 steals in 152 games last year, yet he currently has a higher ADP than Bryson Stott (177), Luis Rengifo (185), Jackson Holliday (190), Brandon Lowe (192) and others with significantly more upside.

Undervalued: Brendan Donovan, STL (ADP: 253)

On-base ability and defensive versatility are Donovan's calling cards, and while they don't help him in fantasy, they do keep him in the everyday lineup. He hit .278/.342/.417 with 34 doubles, 14 home runs, 73 RBI and 65 runs scored in 53 games last year, and he spent time in the leadoff spot and in a run-production role batting fourth and fifth.

20. Nolan Arenado, STL
21. Ryan McMahon, COL
22. Maikel Garcia, KC
23. Matt Shaw, CHC
24. Connor Norby, MIA
25. Christopher Morel, TB

Overvalued: Royce Lewis, MIN (ADP: 112)

In 152 career games, Lewis has hit .268/.327/.497 with 27 doubles, 33 home runs, 104 RBI and 81 runs scored, making him a legitimate top-tier talent when healthy. Unfortunately, it has taken him three seasons to accumulate what is essentially one season's worth of playing time, and he is already ticketed for the injured list to start the season. It's difficult to count on him, but the upside is also impossible to ignore.

Undervalued: Josh Jung, TEX (ADP: 201)

A fractured wrist limited Jung to 46 games last season, but he is just a year removed from starting the All-Star Game as a rookie. He hit .266/.315/.467 with 25 doubles, 23 home runs, 70 RBI and 75 runs scored in 122 games during the 2023 season, and he is currently the 18th third baseman being taken based on ADP.

Shortstops

Top 25 Shortstops

20. Nico Hoerner, CHC
21. Dansby Swanson, CHC
22. Zach Neto, LAA
23. Tommy Edman, LAD
24. Bryson Stott, PHI
25. Ceddanne Rafaela, BOS

Overvalued: Xavier Edwards, MIA (ADP: 137)

One of the few bright spots for the Marlins last season offensively, Edwards hit .328/.397/.423 with 31 steals in 70 games after taking over for Tim Anderson as the team's primary shortstop. Even with his speed, a .398 BABIP is going to be tough to maintain given his batted-ball metrics, and so much of his value is tied to his batting average there is significant regression downside.

Undervalued: Brooks Lee, MIN (ADP: 407)

Given the injury-prone nature of both Carlos Correa and Royce Lewis, Lee figures to see plenty of playing time this year, even if he does not have a clearly defined everyday job when the roster is at full strength. The 24-year-old went No. 8 overall in the 2022 draft on the strength of his polished offensive game, and he has some post-hype upside after a forgettable rookie campaign.

45. Cedric Mullins, BAL
46. Jake McCarthy, ARI
47. Taylor Ward, LAA
48. Spencer Steer, CIN
49. Tommy Edman, LAD
50. Jurickson Profar, ATL

Overvalued: Mike Trout, LAA (ADP: 90)

Trout has played in roughly 41 percent of the Angels' games over the past four seasons, including a career-low 29 games a year ago. He has still averaged 46 home runs, 95 RBI and 109 runs scored per 162 games during that span, so he is still an MVP-caliber talent when healthy, but the injury issues have stacked up to the point it's difficult to rely on him as a Top 100 pick.

Undervalued: Kerry Carpenter, DET (ADP: 177)

Carpenter missed 67 games last season with a lumbar spine stress fracture, but he absolutely raked once he was activated from the injured list. From his return to the lineup on Aug. 13 through the end of the season, he hit .286/.348/.605 with 10 home runs and 28 RBI in 133 plate appearances, and he has more upside than most players being taken in his general ADP.

46. Jared Jones, PIT
47. Cristopher Sánchez, PHI
48. Zach Eflin, BAL
49. Tanner Houck, BOS
50. Reynaldo López, ATL

Overvalued: Spencer Schwellenbach, ATL (ADP: 90)

Schwellenbach gave the Braves rotation a major boost after making his MLB debut last season, going 8-7 with a 3.35 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 127 strikeouts in 123.2 innings across 21 starts. The 24-year-old has significant upside, but it does feel a little silly that he is being taken ahead of more established frontline starters like Luis Castillo, Hunter Greene, Freddy Peralta, Hunter Brown, Zac Gallen, Sonny Gray and several others.

Undervalued: Dustin May, LAD (ADP: 340)

May will start the season as the No. 5 starter in the Dodgers rotation, and that alone gives him significant upside in the wins category. The 27-year-old has battled injuries in recent years, but his stuff is electric when healthy, and he has a 3.10 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 174 strikeouts in 191.2 career innings. The upside here is significant, especially at his current ADP.

Relief Pitchers

21. Kenley Jansen, LAA
22. A.J. Puk, ARI
23. Carlos Estévez, KC
24. Justin Martínez, ARI
25. Lucas Erceg, KC

Overvalued: Tanner Scott, LAD (ADP: 156)

Scott was the best left-handed reliever in baseball last season, and his four-year, $72 million deal from the Dodgers was well deserved as arguably the top reliever on the free-agent market. However, L.A. has so many quality late-inning options, it's difficult to trust any single one of them to be the go-to guy in save situations. In leagues that don't value holds, his ADP should be quite a bit lower.

Undervalued: Edwin Uceta, TB (ADP: 341)

With a $3.7 million salary this year and a $7 million club option for next season, Pete Fairbanks looks like a prime candidate to be traded in 2025. The next man up for saves in Tampa Bay is almost certainly Uceta, who filled that role down the stretch last season and posted a 1.51 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 57 strikeouts in 41.2 innings while tallying five saves in 30 appearances.
