Red Sox's Roman Anthony Lost 10 Pounds After Illness During 2025 MLB Spring Training
The Boston Red Sox received good news about top prospect Roman Anthony on Saturday, as he returned to camp after missing six days with an illness.
Per Rob Bradford of WEEI, Anthony lost 10 pounds while he was away from the team.
Boston's spring roster has been in a state of uncertainty over the past week due to a flu bug going around the team.

Manager Alex Cora admitted on Wednesday he wasn't sure what lineups he would be able to use the rest of the week because it was unclear which players were going to be available.
"We’ll see who’s available," Cora said. "And go from there."
Cora announced the same day that Anthony, Triston Casas, Romy González, Marcelo Mayer and Seby Zavala were all being held out of camp with an illness.
MLB.com's Ian Browne noted Anthony was scratched from the lineup for Monday's game against the Baltimore Orioles and he took an Uber back to the site of Boston's spring training in Fort Myers after arriving in Sarasota feeling under the weather.
Prior to the illness, Anthony was having a strong spring as he looks to make the big-league roster. The 20-year-old has a .308/.500/.385 slash line over 13 at-bats in six games.
Given that Anthony only has 35 games of experience at Triple-A, it seemed unlikely the Red Sox were going to rush him to Boston anyway. His illness and weight loss could give them a reasonable excuse to have him start the regular season in the minors.
As long as there are no setbacks, Anthony could easily reach the big leagues very soon. MLB.com has him ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in MLB entering the 2025 season.
A second-round pick out of high school in the 2022 draft, Anthony has ripped through the minors. He hit .291/.396/.498 with 18 homers and 21 stolen bases in 119 games across Double-A and Triple-A last season.
