McDonald's to Honor Connor McDavid With Re-Named Location After Goal to Win 4 Nations
McDonald's is holding up its end of a proposal it made to Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid prior to the 4 Nations Face-Off.
Back in June, McDonald's Canada posted on X that it would turn an Edmonton-area McDonald's into McDavid's if McDavid were to help Canada win the 4 Nations Face-Off:
On Sunday, McDonald's Canada announced that one McDonald's location in Edmonton and one location in McDavid's hometown of Newmarket, Ontario, would be rebranded as McDavid's this week, and the transformation has since officially taken place:
Canada was victorious on Feb. 20, beating the United States 3-2 in overtime of the final to secure the inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off title.
McDavid scored the game-winning goal in OT to boot, giving him his first major international title at the senior level since the 2016 World Hockey Championship.
The 28-year-old veteran is arguably the best hockey player in the world with All-Star selections, three Hart Memorial Trophies as NHL MVP, five Art Ross Trophies as the NHL scoring leader and one Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP to his credit.
Although the Oilers fell in seven games to the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final last season, McDavid led all players with 42 postseason points, which netted him the Conn Smythe Trophy.
Through 53 games this season, McDavid has 22 goals and 52 assists for 74 points, meaning he is well on his way to a fifth consecutive 100-point season and the eighth of his career overall.
One of the few major accomplishments missing from McDavid's résumé is a Stanley Cup win, but regardless of whether he gets one this season, he can at least revel in being the namesake of two McDonald's restaurants.
