Daniel Richardson Wins Offensive MVP at 2025 HBCU Legacy Bowl
Florida A&M quarterback Daniel Richardon won HBCU Legacy Bowl MVP honors after completing 9-of-12 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown to lead Team Robinson to a 17-14 win over Team Gaither on Saturday in New Orleans’ Yulman Stadium.
Florida Memorial running back Walter Wilbon’s 10-yard touchdown opened the scoring.
Richardson then hit Fort Valley State wide receiver Dejaun Bell for a 9-yard touchdown and a 14-0 lead.
Team Gaither fought back, though, after North Carolina Central defensive back Kole Jones’ second quarter interception, which was returned to the six-yard line.
Two plays later, Tennessee State quarterback Draylen Ellis found his teammate, wide receiver Jalal Dean, for a six-yard TD with no time left.
Team Robinson added a third quarter field goal for a 17-7 lead, but Team Gaither struck back when Ellis found Dean yet again, this time for 10 yards.
Team Gaither had a chance down the stretch, but a late interception from Alabama State defensive back Amon Scarbrough sealed the win.
Alabama State linebacker Treqwan Thomas also won Defensive MVP after amassing four sacks for Team Robinson.
