Sinead O'Connor to Sing Conor McGregor into the Octagon for UFC 189

Conor McGregor—Nothing Compares 2 U.

The Irish MMA star has secured quite the guest to sing him into the Octagon for his UFC 189 fight with Chad Mendes on July 11.

None other than compatriot Sinead O'Connor. 

O'Connor is, of course, best known for her 1990 smash cover of Prince's song "Nothing Compares 2 U," which was a No. 1 hit around the world. 

That is not the song she will be singing, though. Instead, she'll sing the famous Irish folk song "The Foggy Dew."

O'Connor confirmed the news on her Facebook page:

McGregor is fighting Mendes after an injury forced his original opponent, featherweight champion Jose Aldo, to pull out.
