In 2012, while under investigation for tax evasion, Harry Redknapp told police that he could not write or work a computer, that he didn't know what an email was and that he had never sent a text message. Three years later, the former QPR manager has defied his own abilities and knowledge by signing up for a Twitter account:

After making his brief introduction on the microblogging site, Redknapp got straight to his most pressing business—settling an argument he had with a West Ham fan 19 years ago:

For your reference, here is the 1996 conversation in which Redknapp defended his nephew:

Redknapp's third tweet followed soon after, and it was an obviously staged recreation of that very un-staged time he got hit in the head by a football (NSFW link to the original here):

Much of the Twitter community was puzzled by its newest member, who had spoken disparagingly about social media in the past:

Many were also baffled by the former Sun newspaper columnist's newfound literacy skills:

Only one conclusion could possibly be reachedRedknapp's dog Rosie, who was the apparent benefactor of an infamous Monaco bank account, is really pulling the strings:

In the hours after Redknapp's Twitter debut, there was a steady stream of banter, much of it lighthearted enough to reproduce here. For example, many people brought up Niko Kranjcar, whom Redknapp has signed three times at three different clubs:

There were also some inevitable references to Redknapp's favourite day of the year:

Twitter users also took advantage of direct communication with the 68-year-old, as they tried to get his attention through his handle:

While many welcomed Redknapp with foul language and potentially litigious accusations, plenty of amusing tweets made the rounds—along with some suspicion that Redknapp may not be the one running his account:

Clearly, the social media space is much more "t'riffic" for Redknapp's arrival, and we can all look forward to some top digital interaction in the coming days, months and years:
