NASCAR Truck Series at Dover 2015 Results: Winner, Standings and Reaction

If Erik Jones didn't have bad luck, then he'd have no luck at all. One day short of his 19th birthday, Jones watched as Tyler Reddick overtook him for the lead en route to a victory Friday night in the Lucas Oil 200 at Dover International Speedway.

Over the last three weeks, Jones has led a combined 289 laps out of 506. On all three occasions, Jones fell just short of getting his first win in 2015.

Following Friday's heartbreak, he could only offer a brief apology to his crew once the race was over, per Dustin Long of NBC Sports:

Take nothing away from Reddick's victory, though. He waited patiently for his opportunity, and once he saw an opening to take the lead, he made it count. Fox Sports' Jay W. Pennell praised the 19-year-old for his work on the track:

This wasn't the case of a driver simply getting hot in the final few laps, either, and robbing a win from a more deserving driver. Jones also didn't run out of gas and essentially lose by default, as was the case with Matt Crafton's Toyota Tundra 250 victory.

Reddick led 40 of the 200 laps at Dover. He may have waited until late to make his last run at Jones, but that's simply great race strategy rather than blind luck.

Whatever the result, Pete Pistone of MRN Radio feels that Jones and Reddick represent two-thirds of a talented, young contingent calling the Camping World Truck Series home:

Heading into Friday night, no other driver on the truck series circuit had matched Crafton's start to 2015. The two-time reigning champion already had two wins to his name to go along with four top-five finishes and five top-10s. The idea that Crafton would get complacent after all of his success over the past few years was extinguished quickly into this year's campaign.

The No. 88 truck was constantly in the thick of things at Dover, and Crafton led three laps of the race. However, a critical mistake may have cost Crafton any chance at potentially winning.

With 61 laps remaining, the 38-year-old incurred a penalty for driving too fast while leaving pit road. As a result, he went from third place to dead last:

As Motor Racing Network noted, Crafton wasted little time in trying to regain his spot:

Unfortunately for him, he simply ran out of time. Ryan Blaney also put up a tough fight for the sixth spot. The longer he held off Crafton, the fewer amount of laps Crafton was afforded to make his comeback. He wound up in fifth but maintains his hold on the top spot in the points standings.

That lead is getting somewhat slimmer, though. Reddick is now only 11 points back of Crafton, with Jones 14 points behind. Crafton will look to further consolidate his position at next week's Winstar World Casino & Resort 400.

Meanwhile, Jones will simply want to come out on the winning end for once. So many close calls is bound to have an impact on a driver's psyche. On the scale of things, Jones has done enough to earn a trip to Victory Lane. He just has to put it together over a full race.
