The ever growing rivalry between the Big 12 and the SEC will not waste anytime sparking fireworks when two of the best teams from each conference square off this Saturday.

Oklahoma State has tremendous potential and has all the makings to be among the very best offenses in America this season. However, the Cowboys will have to do something the Big 12 teams failed to do in 2008 and that is overcome the mighty SEC defenses.

Georgia has flown under the radar heading into the new season perhaps due to all the superstar playmakers that were lost in Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno. However, the Bulldogs are in perfect position to deliver some surprises and they will get that chance early in their opening contest against the one of the most talented teams in the country.

While many believe that it will be another classic battle between the SEC defense and Big 12 offense, few realize that both offenses could steal the show.

Despite losing huge playmakers on offense, Georgia will have the replacements to keep the offense firing on all cylinders. The Bulldogs will turn to 5th year senior Joe Cox who has been around the system for a while which should prevent any slow starts on offense. Mike Moore should be a primary target on the outside through the air, but the Bulldogs will still prevent a heavy dosage of the running game as the foundation of their success.

Carrying the load will be tailbacks Richard Samuel and freshman Carlton Thomas. Both backs have tons of potential and should provide some excitement against a big offensive line.

Of course the biggest strength for the Bulldogs will be the defense.

Georgia returns a group that ranked in the top 25 defensive teams in the country last season and that was even at times of inconsistency. Rennie Curran will be the biggest playmaker up the middle and is among the best linebackers in America. The Bulldogs secondary could be even better as they will need to be against Oklahoma State. If Georgia can stop the pass, it would be huge in help scoring the upset.

Oklahoma State’s offense is receiving a lot of hype heading into the 2009 season. Unlike most hype that is overestimate before being proved, the Cowboys really will be among the best in college football. They have elite playmakers at all the key positions.

Running back Kendall Hunter had a breakout sophomore season rushing for 1,555 yards. The Oklahoma State running game along with Keith Toston should provide plenty of success on the ground.

However, when quarterback Zac Robinson goes to the air he will have some stellar targets to aide in the assault. Dez Bryant racked up 1,480 receiving yards through the air last season which was 2nd best in the country.

Robinson is also a tremendous quarterback who can make thing happen on the ground as well as through the air just adding another threat to defenses.

The Cowboys will attempt to take down the mighty Bulldogs defense and establish them self as national contenders in their big meeting this Saturday.

The main focus of this game could come down to the Georgia offense.

The Bulldogs will square off with a vulnerable secondary and have every opportunity to find success in the passing game. Will they be able to keep up with the Cowboys offense if the Bulldogs defense can not slow things down?

Well, likely scenario is there could be a lot less scoring than predicted. However, Oklahoma State still may have too many weapons on offense to be conquered.
