Alves Agrees to Remain at Barca

"The new agreement binding both parties will be for a further two seasons, through to 30 June 2017, with the option of a third additional season," confirmed Barcelona in an official statement.
The Brazilian initially met with club officials in May to discuss a potential new deal, but Sport noted: "The player still felt it below his worth and rejected the proposal."
Barcelona responded by signing Sevilla right-back Aleix Vidal, per BBC Sport, and Alves' eventual decision to commit means they are now extremely strong on the right side of defence.
Alves seemed to be finished after a disappointing World Cup for Brazil in the summer, but his form dramatically improved in 2015.
The success of Barca this season has no doubt helped the player make his decision. At 32 years old, it's now possible he could finish his European career with the Blaugrana.
