B/R Experts Predict Top Matches in World Football for Weekend of May 2-3

Ian RodgersApr 30, 2015

The end of the season can produce some strange results as teams fight for titles and European places and battle against relegation.

This weekend will be no exception, throwing up a number of intriguing games for our experts to predict.

In Spain, Real Madrid will be hoping to cling on to their Primera Liga title hopes when they travel to Sevilla.

Juventus can claim a fourth successive Serie A title with victory at Sampdoria, while newly crowned German champions Bayern Munich travel to Bayer Leverkusen.

Manchester City might have conceded the Premier League title this season, but they will be looking to ensure Champions League football next year with a win at Tottenham Hotspur.

AC Milan have disappointed this season, but a victory at Napoli could offer them some optimism moving forward.

Do you agree with our experts' predictions? Let us know in the comments section below.

Sevilla vs. Real Madrid

1 of 6

Alex Livie: Sevilla 1-2 Real Madrid

First goalscorer: Carlos Bacca

Sevilla are still in the hunt for fourth place, but Real will keep their title push on track with a win.

Karl Matchett: Sevilla 2-3 Real Madrid

First goalscorer: Cristiano Ronaldo

Sevilla are unbeaten at home all season and will make it tremendously hard for Real Madrid—but I'll back Real's superior strike power to win the day again when it matters most.

Sam Tighe: Sevilla 1-1 Real Madrid

First goalscorer: Carlos Bacca

Sevilla are the only unbeaten La Liga team at home this year, and I'm not about to go against the grain.

Will Tidey: Sevilla 1-3 Real Madrid

First goalscorer: Javier Hernandez

Madrid to continue their forceful form ahead of their Champions League semi-final against Juventus.

Michael Cummings: Sevilla 2-2 Real Madrid

First goalscorer: Cristiano Ronaldo

Real might need to win all of their remaining games if they're going to catch Barcelona, but this could be a tricky one for Carlo Ancelotti's side.

Sampdoria vs. Juventus

2 of 6

Alex Livie: Sampdoria 0-2 Juventus

First goalscorer: Carlos Tevez

Juventus suffered a shock defeat to neighbours Torino in their last away fixture, but there will be no repeat here.

Karl Matchett: Sampdoria 1-1 Juventus

First goalscorer: Carlos Tevez

Juve are cruising in end-of-season mode, and it's understandable if most of their focus is on Europe. A draw.

Sam Tighe: Sampdoria 1-2 Juventus

First goalscorer: Fernando Llorente

Sampdoria haven't won in five attempts, and Juventus, while cruising and resting ahead of the Champions League semi-finals, find another win.

Will Tidey: Sampdoria 0-1 Juventus

First goalscorer: Carlos Tevez

Juve to edge this one, with Tevez predictably the man on target.

Mike Cummings: Sampdoria 1-1 Juventus

First goalscorer: Andrea Pirlo

With the title race long finished, Juve are looking a little less than impressive lately. Not that Sampdoria have been in form either. Score draw.

Bayer Leverkusen vs. Bayern Munich

3 of 6

Alex Livie: Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 Bayern Munich

First goalscorer: Stefan Kiessling

Bayern will suffer a title hangover by slipping to defeat at Leverkusen.

Karl Matchett: Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 Bayern Munich

First goalscorer: Stefan Kiessling

Same goes for Bayern as for Juve. League games are now there to give game time to those who need it and rest time for others. Leverkusen can take advantage.

Sam Tighe: Bayer Leverkusen 2-2 Bayern Munich

First goalscorer: Stefan Kiessling

Leverkusen have cooled off just at the wrong moment, and that gives banged-up Bayern a chance to steal a draw and continue their title march.

Will Tidey: Bayer Leverkusen 0-2 Bayern Munich

First goalscorer: Thomas Muller

Bayern will head into their clash with Barcelona with a routine win on the road.

Mike Cummings: Bayer Leverkusen 1-1 Bayern Munich

First goalscorer: Thomas Muller

Like Juventus, Bayern don't have too much to play for in the league at this point of the season. Still, Pep Guardiola and company won't want to lose to Leverkusen.

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester City

4 of 6

Alex Livie: Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Manchester City

First goalscorer: David Silva

The title may be slipping away from City, but they show their class with victory at White Hart Lane.

Karl Matchett: Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Manchester City

First goalscorer: Sergio Aguero

This game really could go either way, but City will keep themselves in second with the win.

Sam Tighe: Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Manchester City

First goalscorer: Sergio Aguero

Very few players on the pitch have anything to play for, but Aguero wants that golden boot.

Will Tidey: Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Manchester City

First goalscorer: Harry Kane

Man City's season badly needs a strong finish, but I'm predicting a Spurs win in this one. It's about time Harry Kane got his Harrikane on again.

Mike Cummings: Tottenham Hotspur 2-3 Manchester City

First goalscorer: Sergio Aguero

Which side is less thrilled to be where they are in the table? And which side has more motivation to win? It could go either way.

Napoli vs. AC Milan

5 of 6

Alex Livie: Napoli 0-1 AC Milan

First goalscorer: Jeremy Menez

It's been a poor season for AC Milan, and there is internal strife, but they can show some green shoots of recovery with a win in Naples.

Karl Matchett: Napoli 3-0 AC Milan

First goalscorer: Gonzalo Higuain

Napoli's late charge to retake third place in Serie A means a win here is a must.

Sam Tighe: Napoli 2-0 AC Milan

First goalscorer: Gonzalo Higuain

Milan look absolutely shocking, whereas Napoli—despite a blip vs. Empoli—are a reasonably safe bet.

Will Tidey: Napoli 2-0 AC Milan

First goalscorer: Gonzalo Higuain

Napoli are in good form and will dispatch Milan in this one.

Mike Cummings: Napoli 2-0 AC Milan

First goalscorer: Gonzalo Higuain

Milan are a mess, and Napoli should be able to take full advantage.
