Jawon Pass Tweets His Top 5: Which School Is Best Fit for 4-Star QB?
With quarterbacks in the 2016 recruiting class coming off the board more quickly than half-priced steaks at the supermarket, the pressure to land a commitment from one of the top remaining passers in the country is mounting.
One of the best still out there for the taking just added to the intrigue by naming his finalists, setting up a battle between five Southern schools that are all still searching for top-tier quarterbacks for next year.

Alabama, Auburn, Louisville, North Carolina and Virginia Tech are in the running for Jawon Pass, a 4-star dual-threat quarterback from Columbus, Georgia, per 247Sports. The 6'5", 220-pound Pass is rated by 247Sports as the second-best player in the country at his position and the No. 47 prospect overall in the 2016 class.
At this point, though, it appears to be a two-horse race between Auburn and Louisville. Pass said the schools are "neck and neck" as of Saturday, according to 247Sports' Justin Hokanson. Pass attended Auburn's spring game and compared himself to just-named Tigers starter Jeremy Johnson.
"I could visualize myself, our game is a lot alike," Pass told Hokanson.
Pass threw for 2,153 yards and 28 touchdowns with just four interceptions last season for Carver High School, adding 398 rushing yards and nine rushing TDs, per the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer. As a sophomore in 2013, he had 2,601 yards of total offense and 34 scores.
He's been invited to The Opening in Oregon this summer, and in January, he will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
Of Pass' top five teams, only North Carolina has secured a commitment for a quarterback in 2016. Earlier this month, the Tar Heels landed 3-star pro-style passer Logan Byrd, per 247Sports, who is rated No. 415 overall. They signed a pair of 3-star dual-threat QBs for 2015, per 247Sports, in anticipation of senior Marquise Williams' graduation after this season.
Besides UNC, Auburn might be where Pass has the best chance to play early on. Johnson will be a senior in 2016, and Pass could step in as a redshirt freshman the following year. Louisville and Virginia Tech both have young quarterbacks on their rosters, while Alabama figures to turn to top prospect Blake Barnett as early as next season.
