Evans to Play in Game 2 vs. Warriors
Monday, April 20
After being considered a game-time-decision for Game 2, the Pelicans confirmed Evans will play tonight against the Warriors.
Sam Amick of USA Today reported on April 19 that Evans was diagnosed with a left knee bone bruise.
On April 18, Pelicans PR on Twitter provided details on Evans' status, saying he wouldn't return for the second half against the Warriors in Game 1.
Scott Kushner of The Advocate provided comments from Evans following the game:
The Warriors went on to win the game and take a 1-0 series lead. With Golden State holding a sizable lead at the time of Evans' injury, rushing him back into action likely didn't seem prudent for the Pelicans.
Needless to say, losing Evans for any future games in this series would hurt New Orleans. Evans averaged 16.6 points, 6.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game and made himself the Robin to Anthony Davis' Batman this season for New Orleans.
Evans also brings an attacking style to the Pelicans, as Tom Haberstroh of ESPN.com noted prior to the injury:
The Pelicans already have a tall task on their hands, attempting to knock off the NBA's best team in the regular season, so they'll need to have all hands on deck in this series.
