La Liga Results 2015 Week 32: Tracking Final Scores, Top Scorers for Matchday 32
Cristiano Ronaldo maintained his advantage over Lionel Messi at the top of the La Liga scoring charts. But the latter will be happier to be at the summit of the league table after helping Barcelona beat Valencia in a comprehensive, professional performance.
Messi added the clinching goal after in-form attacker Luis Suarez opened the scoring in the first minute. Meanwhile, Ronaldo found the net late on to clinch Madrid's win over Malaga.
Elsewhere, Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann kept pace with Messi's sparkling form in 2015. The former Real Sociedad man added a brace to move up the scoring charts.

Monday Recap

Just the single goal was scored during Monday's final La Liga match, as Jonathas gave Elche a 1-0 win over Real Sociedad.
As AS English shared, it was his 10th goal of the season:
The forward pounced on a loose ball after some sloppy defending from the Basques before finishing in the near corner inside the opening 20 minutes.
Sociedad had no answer throughout the match and appeared almost disinterested, knowing full well their spot in next year's La Liga is all but assured and there is no more hope for a European adventure.
According to OptaJose, their current run of form is the worst since David Moyes took charge of the club from San Sebastian:
Moyes will be anxiously awaiting the summer transfer window to see what kind of squad he will have at his disposal next year, as the Basques attempt to claw their way back to contention for the European tickets.
Elche now hold a six-point lead over the relegation-threatened teams and look like a safe bet to stay in La Liga next season, a fantastic performance from the tiny club.
Sunday Recap
Rayo Vallecano started Sunday’s action with an impressive 2-0 victory over Almeria in a win that will make their fans feel much safer at this point of the season.
Antonio Amaya gave Rayo Vallecano the lead in the first half with a header, and Miku put the game away in the final minute with the second goal. The victory put Rayo Vallecano into 11th place with 41 points and far clear from any relegation danger.
OptaJose pointed out just how dominant Rayo has been against Almeria in recent matches:
Elsewhere, Granada and Sevilla both notched a 1-1 draw. Rather, Granada defender Diego Mainz notched a draw by scoring the goal for each side.
Mainz provided his team with the initial lead with a formidable header from the corner early in the first half, but he gave that advantage right back with an own goal in the second half. It was a stunning development that cost Granada a golden opportunity to pick up three critical points in an effort to avoid relegation.
That wasn’t the only draw Sunday, as Villarreal and Cordoba failed to find the back of the net in a scoreless tie.
Cordoba goalkeeper Juan Carlos played an excellent game and repeatedly turned away Villarreal’s offensive efforts. OptaJose provided a visual look at how many opportunities Villarreal missed Sunday and noted that Villarreal has struggled to capitalize in front of their home fans far too often in recent games:
Had even one of those Villarreal shots gone in, they would have ended their eight-game winless streak.
As for Cordoba, they do not have a victory in the second half of the season and are on the track toward relegation if things don’t quickly turn around.
Celta Vigo capped Sunday’s action with a 1-0 victory over Eibar thanks to clutch performances from Nolito, the defense and goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez.
Nolito converted a penalty opportunity late in the first half for the game’s only goal, and the strong defense rode that lead to the victory. OptaJose noted that Nolito has been especially impressive this season when it comes to creating goal opportunities:
The victory moved Celta Vigo into ninth place in the table.
Saturday Recap
After blowing a two-goal lead last week in Sevilla, Barca needed to get back on track. As they so often do, manager Luis Enrique's team relied on the brilliance of their outstanding front three.
Suarez, fresh from ripping Paris Saint-Germain apart in the UEFA Champions League, barely wasted a minute slotting his team into the lead. The game remained tense after that, before Messi settled things late on in typically stylish fashion.
Another goal was just one more milestone for the most gifted player on the planet, as Squawka Football noted:
Now, Messi and Barcelona have put the onus back on Madrid.
Los Merengues answered the call after beating Malaga 3-1. Goals from Sergio Ramos, James Rodriguez and finally Ronaldo earned Real the points.
The late strike set another benchmark in Ronaldo's superb La Liga career, per Squawka Football:
Ronaldo and Messi's brilliance is already well-established. But Griezmann is now a rising star ready to join the sport's elite attackers.
His brace away to Deportivo La Coruna helped last season's champions open up a four-point lead over Valencia in the race for automatic qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League.
Griezmann's terrific pace, highly intelligent movement and decisive finishing have made him the bane of La Liga defences. He's now one of the most prolific forwards on the continent, according to OptaJose:
Finally, Athletic Bilbao moved up to eighth after dismantling Getafe at San Mimes. The Basque club once again relied on intelligent and mobile veteran striker Aritz Aduriz.
The 34-year-old helped himself to a brace. Those strikes gave him a pair of hallmarks, per OptaJose:
Aduriz has also moved up in the scoring charts, surpassing Real's Gareth Bale and Atletico's Mario Mandzukic. The race for the top scorer award in Spain's top flight remains a two-horse one. But the form of players such as Griezmann and Aduriz proves La Liga is about more than its two marquee stars.
Friday Recap
Friday's action was limited to just a single match, as Levante managed to find a late equaliser against Espanyol to elevate themselves out of the relegation zone. The 2-2 draw means the Valencia-based team now has 29 points, good for 16th in La Liga.
FOX SPORTS News shared the details:
Victor Casadesus was the hero for the hosts, scoring a fantastic volley in the 88th minute to finish a wonderful team move and deny Espanyol the win.
Twice Levante had to return from a deficit, and twice the goals came as a bit of a shock. Lucas Vazquez had given the visitors the lead early in the first half, before Simao headed home a corner to pull his team level.
In-form Felipe Caicedo put Espanyol back in front on the stroke of half-time, and Javier J. Hernandez of Inside La Liga noted that his return to form couldn't have come at a better time:
The second half saw little action from both sides, and Espanyol seemed to be cruising to a routine win to keep their Europa League hopes alive. But a final incredible passing move isolated Casadesus in front of goal, and the forward didn't hesitate for one second, salvaging the draw and a vital point.
In an interview for the club website, Levante's Ivan Lopez emphasised how important it is for his team-mates to forget about the derby loss against Valencia and focus on the upcoming matches (via Inside Spanish Football's Jamie Kemp):
"It’s all in our hands and I think many times would like to be able to say that. We’re going to try, both home and away, to take the maximum amount of points possible. The two home games can be key for us though.
We have to forget the defeat against Valencia because we’re back in action at home very soon. The supporters and the fans need to come together as one. This is a family and when families are united, things go well.
"
The draw sees Levante claw their way out of the relegation zone, taking a one-point lead over a host of clubs, with just weeks left in the season.
Espanyol were always a long shot to qualify for next year's Europa League, and their bid appears all but finished at this point. But firmly entrenched in the eighth spot in the standings, the Catalans can still look back on a fantastic campaign.
La Liga's top scorers will all be in action on Saturday, as Ronaldo, Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Neymar look to build on their excellent form as the final weeks of the season play out.
