QPR Fans Throw Missiles After Late Chelsea Winner

Sunday, April 12

Cesc Fabregas' 88th-minute winner at Loftus Road led to Chelsea players being bombarded with coins and bottles, but Mourinho was quoted by BBC Sport as being seemingly understanding of the QPR fans' aggression.

"The game was correct in the pitch and correct in the stands," he said. "It is not easy in an emotional game. If, at the end of the game, someone threw a pound coin, put it in your pocket. If someone threw a chocolate, eat it. It is no problem. Everybody needs a pound."

It's a tempered response from one who might be expected to take a more defensive stance in such a matter, especially after Ivanovic appeared to be hurt by the lighter hitting his neck.

In fact, QPR boss Chris Ramsey came across as the angrier of the two managers following Sunday's controversy, per BBC Sport.

"We don't want objects thrown on the pitch," Ramsey said. "I don't know what happened and I didn't see it, but if that's the case [that objects were thrown] we don't want those people back in the club."

Mourinho may have been a more appeasable character thanks to the 1-0 victory, which moved his side seven points clear of second-place Arsenal once again. It was their latest step toward clinching this season's Premier League crown.

The derby collision unsurprisingly saw tempers rise on the pitch, but based on his comments, Mourinho isn't looking to pay much attention to the drama that unfolded off of it.
