Gervinho Tears Thigh Muscle, Misses Napoli Match
April 1
The international break threw another wrench in Roma's bid to turn their slide around, as Gervinho is set to miss up to three weeks with a thigh muscle tear, per FIFA's official Twitter account:
According to Agence France-Presse (via FIFA's official website), the Giallorossi released a statement that reads: "Gervinho underwent tests which revealed a first grade tear in his right thigh. He will likely be unavailable for three weeks. From tomorrow, he will begin rehabilitation."
The Ivory Coast international is yet to score in 2015, one of many factors that has led to Roma dropping out of the Serie A title race. Keeping pace with defending champions Juventus for months, the gap at the top of the standings is suddenly 14 points, as Roma drew match after match through January and February.
Rivals Lazio Roma have been in top form and sit just one point behind the Giallorossi, who will now have to host Napoli without their Ivorian forward.
