USMNT Confirms Injury

The national team's official site states the hamstring strain occurred on Monday and Dempsey is heading back stateside to recover:

U.S. Men's National Team captain Clint Dempsey suffered a right hamstring strain during training Monday in Zurich and will not be available for the USA's upcoming friendlies against Denmark and Switzerland. Dempsey returned to Seattle on Tuesday and is expected to miss 2-3 weeks.

Dempsey has showcased terrific form during the early stages of the new Major League Soccer campaign. He's found the net three times in two matches for the Sounders, which crushed the New England Revolution before a loss to San Jose.

The initial timetable would suggest he'll miss the club's next two matches before a possible return against the LA Galaxy on April 12.
