Monday Recap
Jordan Henderson bagged his third goal in four games to give Liverpool a 1-0 win at the Liberty Stadium on Monday evening, pushing the Reds to within two points of Manchester United in fourth.
As Squawka proclaimed, the Swansea City win maintains Liverpool's rampant run of form away from home of late, with Brendan Rodgers' three-man defence managing yet another clean sheet in foreign territory:
With this win in hand, Liverpool can move into the top four should they manage to beat the Red Devils at Anfield next Sunday.
Henderson's 68th-minute strike was the difference between the two teams as Rodgers claimed another victory against his former club. Henderson's strike sparked the Daily Mail's Dominic King into highlighting the need for the midfielder's contract to be extended:
Swansea have now won just three of their last 10 games across all competitions and are fighting to finish among the Premier League's top half after starting the season in such strong fashion.
Liverpool, meanwhile, will prepare for Sunday's high-stakes clash with United in the hopes of adding to a 13-match unbeaten run in the league.
Sunday Recap

Chelsea managed to increase their lead at the top of the standings on Sunday but failed to find a late winner against Southampton at Stamford Bridge.
Diego Costa opened the scoring for the Blues before a penalty from Dusan Tadic pulled the visitors level, and while Chelsea pushed late to come away with all three points, they couldn't find another opening.
After the match, manager Jose Mourinho provided us with another classic press conference, questioning the penalty decision, via the Sunday Times' Duncan Castles:
He also took a shot at Arsenal, who are suddenly being pushed as potential dark-horse title candidates, per The Guardian's Daniel Taylor:
The Blues didn't look particularly impressive during the first half, lacking the intensity to find gaps in a sturdy Southampton defence, and somewhat justifying the 1-1 half-time score.
Their second half was far better, but the final pass was lacking, and the chances the hosts did manage inside the final 20 minutes were dealt with expertly by the Saints' defence.
As shared by Infostrada Sports, Chelsea's recent home record doesn't look particularly impressive:
ESPN FC's Miguel Delaney didn't think the Blues looked all that well on Sunday:
For all the negativity, however, Chelsea still hold a commanding lead at the top of the standings and still have a match in hand. The gap with Manchester City widened in Week 29, which is all that really matters for now.
Manchester United ran out to a 3-0 lead in the first half of their win over Tottenham Hotspur, dominating the visitors in all facets of the game.
Belgium international Marouane Fellaini opened the scoring with a neat left-footed finish, prompting this observation from former England international Gary Lineker:
Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney added to their tally in the first half, pushing the Red Devils to within a single point of Arsenal.
Everton also easily beat Newcastle United, with Romelu Lukaku once again the star man. He assisted James McCarthy for the opener and converted a penalty to make it 2-0. Football365's Daniel Storey thinks he's turning out to be a solid buy for the Toffees after all:
Ross Barkley added a late goal to put the final score on the board. Fabricio Coloccini was sent off for a dangerous challenge on Aaron Lennon and will be suspended for next week's match against Arsenal.
Liverpool travel to Wales to play Swansea City on Monday, the final match of Week 29.
Saturday Recap

Arsenal continued their hot stretch on Saturday, winning their eighth consecutive home match by beating West Ham United 3-0. Olivier Giroud, Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramsey were on target for the Gunners, who closed the gap with defending champions Manchester City to just a single point.
Saturday's clash was hardly exciting—West Ham had no interest in attacking and were thoroughly beaten by a far superior team that needed some momentum heading into a Champions League match against AS Monaco.
After the final whistle, there were even some fans suggesting the Gunners could still be in the title race, based on their fantastic form. As shared by Bet365, Arsene Wenger prefered not to comment on such questions:
The Guardian's Barney Ronay doesn't think it's possible—and also things all hell would break loose if it did happen:
Still, there's no denying the Gunners are arguably the hottest team in the Premier League right now. The immediate focus has to be on Monaco, however—coming back from a 3-1 home defeat won't be easy, strong form or otherwise.
Defending champions Manchester City face a similarly difficult task against Barcelona at the Camp Nou, and if the 1-0 defeat against Burnley is any indication, fans shouldn't get their hopes up.
The Citizens looked disinterested and generally awful. They eventually undone by a fantastic strike from George Boyd. Incredibly, manager Manuel Pellegrini didn't think his team performed badly, as he told talkSPORT's Jim Proudfoot:
The Daily Mirror's David McDonnell had a slightly different opinion:
Gabriel Agbonlahor and Christian Benteke scored twice in the first half to give Aston Villa a shocking 4-0 lead over Sunderland, and the Villans cruised to an easy win during the second half.
Tim Sherwood continues to amaze managing the club, and thankfully, the Internet has a tendency to go berserk every time one his club wins, per Eurosport.com:
Meanwhile, Sunderland continue to drop down the standings, and time may be running out for Gus Poyet.
The same rings true for Queens Park Rangers, who now chase Burnley by three points following the Clarets' win and their own loss against Crystal Palace.
West Bromwich Albion beat Stoke City 1-0, while Leicester City and Hull City played out a drab 0-0 draw.
