Barclays Premier League Table: Updated 2015 EPL Outlook After Week 28 Results
Aston Villa were the big winners from Tuesday's three Premier League matches, with Tim Sherwood picking up his first win as manager of the Birmingham outfit as the hosts beat West Brom 2-1 at Villa Park.
A stoppage-time Christian Benteke penalty proved the difference for Villa, Saido Berahino having cancelled out Gabriel Agbonlahor's first-half strike.
In the night's other relegation clash, Hull City drew 1-1 with Sunderland, while Southampton beat Crystal Palace 1-0 as they continue their bid to finish in the top four.

Villa Slump Ends in Dramatic Fashion

Villa came into Tuesday's encounter with in-form West Brom having not won in 12 matches, the last seven of which had been defeats.
Thus, a reaction was sorely needed, and Sherwood's side looked decent in the opening half, with Agbonlahor particularly sharp.
And it was the Englishman who broke the deadlock after 22 minutes. He latched onto the end of Benteke's flick-on from Brad Guzan's clearance and slid the ball underneath Ben Foster for his first goal in some time, per Opta:
The Baggies came out after the break with greater intent, and the nerves could be felt around Villa Park as the home side looked to hang on to a slender lead.
It was not to be, as Berahino equalised in the 66th minute, heading home after Joleon Lescott nodded the ball down from a Chris Brunt corner.
The goal looked to have earned a point for the Baggies as the match headed into stoppage time, but Foster felled Matthew Lowton in the box with seconds remaining to concede a penalty.
Benteke was coolness personified as he stroked home from the spot to claim the victory and three points, which see Villa out of the relegation zone, per The Telegraph's Henry Winter:
Sunderland managed to grab a point at the KC Stadium against Hull, the two bottom-six sides sharing the spoils after a controversial 1-1 draw.
Dame N'Doye got the first for the home side after a quarter of an hour, his cheeky backheel from Tom Huddlestone's cross evading a motionless Costel Pantilimon.
The Black Cats were the better side in the second half and were rewarded when Jack Rodwell headed home Patrick van Aanholt's cross from barely a yard.
While Rodwell appeared to head the ball onto his arm, it seemed to have crossed the line anyway before the apparent infringement, and there was certainly no intended handball.

Gus Poyet had been sent to the stands in the first half for reacting angrily to a Rodwell booking, but his side did well to claim a crucial point against Hull.
Nearer the top of the Premier League, Southampton reacted well to their 1-0 defeat to West Brom at the weekend as they beat Crystal Palace with their own 1-0 victory.
James Ward-Prowse's 83rd-minute strike was parried into the path of Saido Mane, who chipped the keeper for the only goal of the game.
The three points see Saints up into fifth in the Premier League as they continue their bid for Champions League football next season.
Ronald Koeman will be looking to Newcastle, Queens Park Rangers, Swansea and Burnley—who face Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool, respectively, on Wednesday—to do them a favour in Week 28 by taking points off Saints' top-four rivals.
