Wednesday Update

Manchester United left it late at St James' Park to grab all three points with a 1-0 win, Ashley Young firing home in the 89th minute after Tim Krul erred in clearing the ball into his path.
It was a contest packed with incident, Jonny Evans and Papiss Cisse being involved in an apparent spitting altercation in the first half, per the Daily Mail:
In more positive news, Jonas Gutierrez made his return to Premier League action after a lengthy spell out fighting cancer, the Argentine replacing Ryan Taylor in the second half.
Wayne Rooney and Emmanuel Riviere spurned opportunities at either end, David de Gea and Krul both impressing in their respective goals.
However, it was Krul's error that eventually led to the goal in the 89th minute as he cleared it out to Young who cooly slotted home to claim a vital win for Louis van Gaal's side.
It was indeed a hugely important three points as Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool all also won on Wednesday.
Spurs' 3-2 win over Swansea was tempered by a first-half incident in which Bafetimbi Gomis collapsed on the pitch, although the striker is reportedly now stable after being stretchered off early into proceedings, per BBC Sport:
Ki Sung-yueng cancelled out Nacer Chadli's first-half strike, but second-half goals from Ryan Mason and Andros Townsend earned Spurs a vital win, despite Gylfi Sigurdsson's 89th minute goal.
Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez scored for Arsenal as the Gunners won 2-1 at Queens Park Rangers, Charlie Austin firing a consolation for the hosts late on.
It was an impressive second-half display from the Gunners, and their Chilean talisman broke his extended run without a goal, per WhoScored.com:
Goals either side of half-time for Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge gave Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool a 2-0 home victory against struggling Burnley.
Henderson's 20-yard strike saw the Reds take the lead before he set up Sturridge's headed goal in the 51st minute, and Liverpool have now won seven out of their last eight in the league.
Table-topping Chelsea narrowly beat West Ham 1-0 at Upton Park, Eden Hazard's first-half header from a Ramires cross in the 22nd minute proving the difference at the final whistle.
They stay five points clear of Manchester City in second, the Sky Blues having beaten bottom-of-the-table Leicester City 2-0 thanks to goals from David Silva and James Milner.
Finally, Everton's poor season continued on Wednesday as Stoke City downed them 2-0 at the Britannia Stadium, Victor Moses and Mame Diouf grabbing the home side's goals.
The Toffees sit in 14th, six points from the drop, while the Potters are in eighth.
Tuesday Update

Tim Sherwood was looking for his first points as Villa manager on Tuesday as his squad faced a resurgent Tony Pulis side at Villa Park, and a late Christian Benteke penalty provided all three.
Forward Gabriel Agbonlahor broke the deadlock midway through the first half—the Baggies first concession in the league since early February—to put the home side 1-0 up.
The Englishman received the ball from a Benteke flick-on, and he made no mistake in firing a finish through the legs of goalkeeper Ben Foster.
As The Daily Telegraph's Henry Winter notes, the intent from Villa was much better than that of recent performances, and they went into the break still leading 1-0:
In the second half, West Brom went up a gear and threatened the Villa goal much more often, although they failed to carve out a genuine chance.
However, Saido Berahino grabbed the equaliser from a corner at 66 minutes, with the striker having received the ball from defender Joleon Lescott before he fired home the Baggies' first genuine chance, per Squawka:
With the spoils looking set to be shared, Foster hauled down defender Matthew Lowton in stoppage time to concede a spot-kick which Benteke coolly converted, per BBC Sport's Phil McNulty:
Villa move out of the relegation zone after an incredibly important win—at least until Wednesday's fixtures.
In a similarly key relegation battle, Sunderland grabbed a vital point at Hull City after trailing 1-0 early on in the match.
Striker Dame N'Doye opened the scoring 15 minutes in, as his nonchalant backheel from Tom Huddlestone's cross nestled into the bottom corner. The Senegalese continues his vital contributions for Steve Bruce's side, per Opta:
Heading for a third defeat in four league games, the Black Cats found an equaliser 13 minutes from time through Jack Rodwell, as he latched on to the end of a glorious Patrick van Aanholt cross.
Gus Poyet's men are now four points from the drop in 16th, while Hull remain one point further ahead.
Southampton kept their hopes of a top-four finish alive on Tuesday at St. Mary's with a late 1-0 victory over Alan Pardew's Crystal Palace.
Midfielder Sadio Mane netted in the 83rd minute to score the only goal of the game, with James Ward-Prowse's parried shot falling into the path of the Senegal international for him to chip home.
With all of their Champions League rivals playing on Wednesday, Ronald Koeman's side move up into the fifth spot with their win, a fine response to Saturday's 1-0 loss to West Brom.
