According to Matt Lawton of the Daily Mail, The FA received the new information late in January and have now been forced to delay the verdict on Mackay, with the investigation set to potentially not be concluded before the end of the season.
The charges against Mackay and Moody relate to a string of correspondence between the pair, during their time at Cardiff City, which contained racist, sexist and homophobic text messages, per Lawton.
The information came to light in August when Mackay was looking for a new job, having been relieved of his duties at Cardiff by owner Vincent Tan in December 2013.
The 43-year-old Scot subsequently took over at the helm of Wigan in November, and the Latics are now struggling near the bottom of the Championship, with Mackay's team currently nine points from safety.
