
European Team of the Week: Felipe Anderson Stars, Dost and Bueno Bring Goals
Felipe Anderson is WhoScored.com’s European player of the week. The young wideman turned out a commendable display for Lazio as they comfortably dispatched of Sassuolo 3-0 at the Mapei Stadium.

N’Golo Kante comes into the XI this week as a result of his display against Marseille. The Caen midfielder provided the assist for Emiliano Sala’s second-half strike as Patrice Garande’s side came from two goals down to win 3-2 at the Velodrome. Seven tackles and seven interceptions helped push Kante’s WhoScored.com rating up to 9.07, with that figure earning him the man of the match accolade.

Jason Puncheon joins Kante in the middle of the park. Crystal Palace secured an unlikely 3-1 win at West Ham in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off, with Puncheon central to the Eagles’ efforts at Upton Park. The 28-year-old attacker provided all three assists for his side, which came from his seven key passes. Puncheon also made three tackles and two clearances to help Palace secure a superb victory in east London.
Alberto Bueno features in attack this week. The Spaniard netted all four of his side’s goals as Rayo Vallecano secured a 4-2 win at home to Levante. Bueno had only five shots on goal during his 64 minutes on the pitch on Saturday, reinforcing his statistically calculated strength of "finishing."

Striker-of-the-moment Bas Dost partners Bueno up front after yet another scintillating performance for Wolfsburg as they dispatched of Werder Bremen 5-3 at the Weserstadion. Scott Dann stars at the heart of the back line after his display for Palace at West Ham. Dann scored what proved to be the winning goal in the 3-1 victory having headed in the Eagles’ second just after the break. Two tackles, two interceptions and 15 clearances, along with seven aerial duels won, saw the Hammers struggle to break down the staunch Palace defence as Alan Pardew’s side came away with all three points.
The experienced Dario Dainelli partners Dann at centre-back this week. Chievo’s form has drastically improved in recent weeks, with Dainelli central to their attempts to pull away from the relegation zone. A solid display from the 35-year-old at home to Milan ensured a third WhoScored.com man of the match award from his last four league appearances, with six tackles, six interceptions and two clearances contributing to that.
Marcel Schmelzer stars at left-back on the back of an impressive outing in the Ruhr derby. Borussia Dortmund appear to have found their rhythm after a disappointing opening half to the Bundesliga campaign and the 3-0 win at home to Schalke on Saturday afternoon means they have now won each of their last four league games. The majority of Dortmund’s attacks came down the left flank (35 percent), with Schmelzer offering an offensive threat from deep, having played three key passes in the victory.
However, it was the German’s defensive work that stood out in the victory. A majority of Schalke’s attacks came down their right (41 percent), but the 27-year-old defender easily dealt with the threat having made eight tackles, three interceptions and six clearances in the encounter at the Westfalenstadion.

Daryl Janmaat completes the defence after his display against Aston Villa. Newcastle secured a 1-0 home win at the expense of the Villans, with Janmaat crucial in the victory. The Dutchman registered the assist for Papiss Demba Cisse’s first-half goal, while his work at the back helped Newcastle to a clean sheet and victory. Four tackles, three interceptions and five clearances reinforced how big a role he played in John Carver’s first home league win as Magpies boss.
Almeria goalkeeper Julian makes up the XI after his man-of-the-match display against Deportivo. Victor Fernandez’s side came away from the Juegos Mediterraneos wondering how they could not grab the win with Julian in inspiring form. The 23-year-old Spaniard made nine saves in the 0-0 draw, improving Almeria’s chances of securing their top-flight status in the process.
