And while Matchday 28 won't have some of the compelling matchups we saw last week, there are still some very important games on the docket.

Let's take a look at the upcoming fixtures and the league table while previewing this week's action.

Preview

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - MARCH 01: The dejected Wilfred Bony and Frank Lampard of Manchester City walk off the pitch following their team's 2-1 defeat during the Barclays Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield on March 1, 2015

With Chelsea sitting five points clear of Manchester City but with a game in hand, the Blues remain the serious favorites to win this year's Premier League title, making the race for a top-four finish and the relegation battle a bit more interesting to focus on.

Still, keep one thing in mind when the Blues travel to face West Ham—last year, Chelsea gave away 14 of a possible 15 points in away fixtures at Swansea City, Aston Villa, Stoke City, Newcastle and West Brom. This year, both of their losses and four of their six draws have come on the road.

In other words, it's hardly a given that the Blues will steamroll West Ham, especially given the strong campaign the Hammers have put together.

This is one of the rare weeks that most of the top clubs in the league face off against many of the struggling sides, without a key matchup between contenders.

Manchester City should be able to avenge a 2-1 loss against Liverpool when facing Leicester City; the worst team in the Premier League this season. Arsenal, winners of seven of their last eight Premier League matches, take on a QPR side that are currently 17th in the table. Manchester United face a Newcastle side that could give them some problems but probably won't. Liverpool and Southampton will be heavily favored against Burnley and Crystal Palace, respectively.

Perhaps the week's most intriguing matchup is Tottenham, seventh in the table, facing Swansea, who come into the week in eighth place. Of course, the divide between the two teams is a bit greater than a place in the table—Tottenham have a four-point cushion and a game in hand—but the Swans could seriously damage Spurs' chances of getting back in the top-four hunt with a win.

One thing working against Tottenham? Former player Gylfi Sigurdsson is fit once again and expected to play, giving the Swans a major boost.

"He's been back in training, trained this week, so we're looking for him to come back into the squad for sure," Swansea manager Garry Monk told BBC Sport regarding Sigurdsson's fitness.

The Swans were already on a bit of a roll, coming off wins over Manchester United and Burnley, so getting arguably their best player back for this contest makes them quite dangerous. Steve Tucker of Wales Online thinks getting him back will be a huge boost:

"

Swansea are a strong team unit and that is the most important thing and there are few teams where one player is indispensable, but take Gylfi Sigurdsson out of the Swans right know and the Icelander starts to look like a vital presence. Against Burnley he was missing with a hamstring problem and the Swans really suffered as a result.

The same was true when he was suspended for three games during that ‘wobble’ at the start of this year too. The vital function Sigurdsson provides is linking up defence with attack, getting the ball up field quickly and exposing gaps left by the opposition as they press. Without him the Swans look ponderous on the front foot.

"

It probably won't hurt that both he and Kyle Naughton will be looking to stick it to their former team. Expect this matchup to be the game of the week, with Spurs edging out the Swans at White Hart Lane.
