South Carolina Coach Steve Spurrier Finally Joins Twitter
South Carolina football players might want to be careful about what they tweet because Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier is now on Twitter.
The social media network has been around for some time now, but the 69-year-old coach waited until 2015 to get in on the fun. It's the beginning of a new era for the Ol' Ball Coach.
On Monday, Spurrier sent out his first tweet:
The coach quickly found out that it's easy to make a mistake on social media. In his first tweet, he made the mistake of including @USC, which is the official Twitter account of the University of Southern California, instead of @UofSC, South Carolina's official account. The tweet was deleted.
Spurrier didn't let that slight error deter him from sending out another tweet, however. He gave Twitter another shot a few minutes later:
Steve Spurrier Jr. confirmed the news that his dad was indeed on Twitter:
That picture says it all.
As for what this means for South Carolina players, they better just make sure they don't say too much on social media. Penn State coach James Franklin has used Twitter as a way to keep tabs on his players. Gamecocks players have to be hoping their coach won't use it in the same fashion.
