5 Top-Performing QB Recruits from 2015 Orlando Elite 11 Regional

Damon SaylesMar 2, 2015

A little rain—well, more like a heavy downpour—didn't stop eager quarterbacks from performing at the Nike Elite 11 Orlando regional on Sunday. If anything, the rain may have helped the quarterbacks show off a little more.

Wet conditions are tough, but according to those in attendance—including Bleacher Report's Sanjay Kirpalani—a few of the quarterbacks didn't appear to be bothered by the inclement weather. LSU commit Feleipe Franks walked away not only with MVP honors but also the first ticket for the Elite 11 nationals later this summer.

Franks, however, wasn't the only quarterback to perform well. At the end of the competition, several quarterbacks were chosen by Elite 11 officials and coaches to participate in the "Pressure Chamber," an intense two-minute drill where quarterbacks have to complete an obstacle-course setup of passing situations.

Here are five QBs who stood out at Sunday's event, according to Kirpalani.

4-Star QB Feleipe Franks

1 of 5

Hometown: Crawfordville, Florida (Wakulla)

Size: 6'5", 220 lbs

247 national rank: No. 39 (No. 1 dual-threat QB)

Committed to LSU

Five, 10, 20 years from now, Feleipe Franks will be able to boast that he was the first Elite 11 Finals invite for 2015. Franks, who committed to LSU on June 1, impressed many in attendance with his accuracy, arm strength and decision-making skills.

All of those qualities helped to earn Franks 20 offers—and LSU's admiration. Look for offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and head coach Les Miles to utilize all of his attributes, as well as his size and football IQ, at the next level.

4-Star QB Ervin Barrett

2 of 5

Hometown: Orlando, Florida (West Orange)

Size: 6'2", 213 lbs

247 national rank: No. 215 (No. 7 dual-threat QB)

An athletic playmaker, Ervin "Woody" Barrett has built something of a reputation as a quality dual-threat quarterback. It was Barrett's pro-style abilities, however, that qualified him for the Pressure Chamber.

Barrett was one of the most consistent quarterbacks on Sunday, per B/R's Sanjay Kirpalani. Recruiting-wise, Auburn is considered a major contender, according to 247Sports, but he also has offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Louisville and other programs.

Unrated QB David Moore

3 of 5

Hometown: Alpharetta, Georgia (Milton)

Size: 6'2", 170 lbs

247 national rank: N/A

David Moore has been one of those under-the-radar quarterbacks waiting for the Elite 11 regionals to kick off. He's unrated by 247Sports as of Monday morning but has waited patiently to show everyone what he can do with a football. Moore didn't disappoint on Sunday.

A pocket passer with the feet of a dual-threat guy, Moore is inching closer to double-digit offers. Oregon State, Illinois and Wake Forest are among those schools offering, but with a strong spring, Moore could quickly become a household name in recruiting circles. Sunday's performance was a great start.

3-Star QB Rex Culpepper

4 of 5

Hometown: Tampa, Florida

Size: 6'3", 210 lbs

247 national rank: No. 534 (No. 26 pro-style QB)

One look at Rex Culpepper shows that he looks the part of a next-level QB. He's got good size and a strong arm, and on Sunday his talent got him into the Pressure Chamber. As the son of former Florida Gators and NFL defensive tackle Brad Culpepper, he also knows the mental challenges in becoming a next-level athlete.

Culpepper has double-digit offers, and while some might think he'll follow his father's footsteps to Florida, schools like Clemson and Ohio State have made major pushes to land him. Culpepper told Ryan Bartow of 247Sports that he plans on visiting Gainesville soon.

3-Star QB Chris Oladokun

5 of 5

Hometown: Tampa, Florida (Alonso)

Size: 6'1", 175 lbs

247 national rank: No. 1,009 (No. 55 pro-style QB)

Committed to South Florida

Chris Oladokun entered Elite 11 Orlando as a South Florida commit with only three offers, but you can bet that after his performance he will be re-evaluated by recruiting analysts and college coaches. Oladokun was impressive throughout the day and earned himself a spot in the Pressure Chamber.

Oladokun committed to South Florida in October but has since grabbed an offer from South Alabama. He also has a Toledo offer.
