Top 5 Recruits Set to Attend Georgia's Junior Day

Sanjay KirpalaniFeb 19, 2015

Georgia will welcome a flood of top recruits to campus this weekend for the program’s first junior day, according to Rusty Mansell of Dawgs247.

Players from at least five states are scheduled to be in attendance, per Mansell.

Coach Mark Richt and his staff are already off to a fast start in the 2016 class with five commitments

Which players represent the top five targets that ‘Dawgs fans should be paying close attention to?

*Players listed in alphabetical order

Chad Clay

Since defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt’s arrival in Athens a little more than a year ago, he’s made it a priority to overhaul the secondary.

He will look to continue that effort in the 2016 class, with 4-star in-state corner Chad Clay among the top prospects the ‘Dawgs are pursuing at that position.

According to Mansell, Clay currently has Georgia and LSU as frontrunners for his services.

Getting the 6’0”, 177-pounder in for a visit this weekend will give the ‘Dawgs a chance to surge to the top of his list.

Elijah Holyfield

2 of 5

Georgia will be looking for running backs in the 2016 class, and perhaps the top in-state option will be on campus this weekend in the form of 4-star rusher Elijah Holyfield.

While the ‘Dawgs will get a chance to make an impression on the 5’11”, 200-pounder, Richt and his staff will have some work to do in getting the ‘Dawgs to jump into the mix for his commitment.

According to Kipp Adams of 247Sports, Holyfield recently indicated that Tennessee, Auburn, Florida and Michigan are the four schools currently standing out to him.

However, his visit to Athens this weekend could drastically change the trajectory of his recruitment if it goes well.

E.J. Price

3 of 5

Much like it is for NFL teams in the draft, offensive tackle is a premium position for programs on the recruiting trail.

Georgia already has the Peach State’s top tackle prospect committed in 5-star Ben Cleveland, and they would love to land his potential bookend in 4-star E.J. Price, who will be on campus this weekend.

The 6’6”, 307-pounder—who currently resides in Lawrenceville, which is less than an hour away from UGA’s campus—is the nation’s No. 9 tackle prospect and the No. 75 player overall in the 2016 class.

Making a favorable impression on Price could put the Bulldogs closer to landing two of the better prospects at a premium position in their 2016 class.

Demetris Robertson

4 of 5

One player who figures to get the attention of Richt and his staff is 4-star athlete Demetris Robertson.

The 6’1”, 165-pounder is the nation’s top-rated athlete, but he’s also already committed to fellow SEC power Alabama.

Robertson is likely to become a dynamic receiver at the next level, and the ‘Dawgs will likely pitch him on the prospects of teaming up with 5-star quarterback commitment Jacob Eason, as noted by Mansell.

This weekend’s trip is the first step in getting Robertson to consider switching his pledge to the Bulldogs.

Binjimen Victor

5 of 5

Georgia has had success in recent years dipping into the Sunshine State for top talent.

One Florida product who will make the long trek to Athens is 4-star receiver Binjimen Victor.

The 6’4”, 170-pounder currently has Auburn, Florida and LSU as schools he’s heavily interested in, according to Ryan Bartow of 247Sports

Victor is a bigger target who still has the speed to stretch defenses vertically, which makes him an intriguing fit into the ‘Dawgs passing attack.
