Anthony Davis Injury Update: Pelicans Star Ruled Out of 2015 NBA All-Star Game
The 2015 NBA All-Star Game will be without the league's brightest young star.
Anthony Davis, who has missed the New Orleans Pelicans' last two games as he battles a shoulder injury, announced Wednesday that he is pulling out of the exhibition:
The NBA officially announced Dirk Nowitzki as Davis' replacement, per USA Today's Adi Joseph.
ESPN's Tim MacMahon first reported that Dallas Mavericks veteran Dirk Nowitzki will take his spot, giving the big German his 13th All-Star appearance.
Skipping the event certainly makes sense from Davis' standpoint. The Pelicans are currently 27-26 and in 10th place in the ultra-difficult Western Conference. After Wednesday's loss to the Indiana Pacers, they are now 2-5 without Davis, and if they are going to have any shot at making the playoffs, they will need their MVP candidate to be fully healthy.
Besides, the 21-year-old will have another chance or 15 to participate in the All-Star Game.
Nevertheless, it's a disappointment for the fans. Davis is easily one of the most entertaining players in the NBA, and after scoring 10 points in 10 minutes during last year's showcase, it's obvious he is capable of putting on a show in this kind of setting.

Candidates to replace Davis in the starting lineup—which already has Harden and Klay Thompson in for Blake Griffin and Kobe Bryant—include Kevin Durant, DeMarcus Cousins, Tim Duncan and LaMarcus Aldridge.
