Wednesday Recap

Chelsea salvaged their seven-point lead atop of the table after an 89th-minute goal from Willian gave them a 1-0 win over Everton. Manchester City looked set to cut the deficit to five points for long periods of the evening, as they thumped Stoke City 4-1 at the Britannia Stadium.
Sergio Aguero put the visitors ahead midway through the first half before Peter Crouch moved the Potters level with a trademark header before the break. But James Milner fired the visitors back in front in the 55th minute, and City took over from there as Aguero added a second and Samir Nasri bagged the fourth.

As we can see here courtesy of David Lynch of the Manchester Evening News, the City faithful were unashamed in their admiration for the midfielder and their willingness for him to sign a new deal:
""We want you to stay!" sing the #MCFC fans to James Milner. No kidding!
— David Lynch (@DavidLynchMEN) February 11, 2015"
The result for City keeps the pressure on Chelsea at the top of the table, but the Londoners ground out another home victory.
The Blues put Everton under big pressure for the majority of the match, but it was the visitors who had the best chance of the second half. Romelu Lukaku looked poised to put the visitors in front, but a stunning save from Petr Cech kept out the Belgium striker, per Squawka Football:
That stop proved to be crucial for Chelsea, as they snatched a late winner thanks to the Brazilian's deflected effort. Gareth Barry saw red for the visitors late on after picking up two yellow cards.
Manchester United were pushed hard by Burnley at Old Trafford, but eventually Louis van Gaal’s side got over the line in a 3-1 win.
It was Chris Smalling—introduced as a first-half substitute—who bagged two first-half goals either side of a Danny Ings header; Robin van Persie added the gloss to the victory with a late penalty, pushing the hosts to third in the table.

As noted by 101 Great Goals, the England defender’s first-half brace was a history-making one:
Elsewhere, Southampton were unable to get the better of West Ham United in a 0-0 draw. The Hammers were reduced to 10 men in the latter stages as Adrian was dismissed for handling the ball outside his area, but Sam Allardyce's men clung on for a critical point.
Crystal Palace and Newcastle United played out an entertaining 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park. The Toon Army took the lead thanks to Papiss Cisse in the first half, but a Fraizer Campbell equaliser gave Alan Pardew's team a satisfactory point up against his former club.
West Brom took a big step towards avoiding relegation after they beat Swansea City 2-0 at the Hawthorns—Brown Ideye and Saido Berahino on the scoresheet for Tony Pulis' side.
Tuesday Recap

Tuesday night belonged to manager Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool, as the Anfield giants edged out Tottenham in a pulsating contest. And the winning goal came from an unfamiliar source, as Balotelli turned himself from villain to hero with a poacher's finish.
The night started well for Liverpool after Lazar Markovic gave the Reds a quickfire lead. But Tottenham were back on terms just 11 minutes later, as Harry Kane continued his fine goalscoring run.
The game remained tied at half-time, and the sides once again came out at a frantic pace, both clearly looking for the win.

It was the Merseysiders who again took control of the match, as the returning Daniel Sturridge—in his first start since August—was felled by Danny Rose for a penalty.
Steven Gerrard made sure he grabbed Liverpool's second from the spot-kick, driving the ball hard to Hugo Lloris' left.
But Spurs would not give up without a fight and amazingly were back in the match after an equaliser from Mousa Dembele.
A Christian Eriksen free-kick was saved by Simon Mignolet, but Kane reacted first to fire the ball across the area for Dembele to bundle over the line.

Replays showed Kane was offside from the free-kick, but the linesman missed the decision.
It was then left to Balotelli to come on and make his cameo, sweetly finishing an Adam Lallana cross to claim the points for Liverpool.
After the match, BBC Sport's Phil McNulty lauded the match and paid homage to both teams' contributions:

In the night's other matches, Arsenal made tough work of relegation candidates Leicester City, winning 2-1 at the Emirates.
Two first-half goals from Laurent Koscielny and Theo Walcott were enough to obtain all three points, but a second-half effort from the Foxes' new signing, Andrej Kramaric, made it a nervy end for the Gunners.
It was Kramaric's first goal in English football, but the star of the show was Mesut Ozil, who grabbed two assists, per Luke Reddy of BBC Sport.

In the shock result of the night, QPR ended an 11-game run without a win away after they defeated Sunderland 2-0.
Interim Hoops boss Chris Ramsey watched on as goals from Leroy Fey and Bobby Zamora claimed the famous victory.
And in the final game, Hull City's improving form continued with a 2-0 win against Aston Villa.
Senegal international striker Dame N'Doye grabbed his first goal for the Tigers after the opener by Nikica Jelavic, lifting Steve Bruce's team out of the relegation places.
