UK Back Pages: Raheem Sterling Offered Big Deal, Pearson Blasts Lineker

Raheem Sterling's contract situation—the fact that he hasn't signed a new one yet—takes centre stage as Liverpool are set to face in-form Tottenham on Tuesday. 

Gary Lineker is also in the news, as Nigel Pearson is blaming the Match of the Day host for perpetuating a story of his dismissal at Leicester City. 

But depending on who you read, the Sterling contract situation is at a different stage of standoff. 

In the Daily Mail, Sterling has been offered an "incredible deal" by Liverpool.

But in Sun Sport, Brendan Rodgers is disappointed that Sterling hasn't yet accepted their lucrative (reported £95,000 per week) package and is refusing to break their wage structure.

Meanwhile, in Mirror Sport, James Tomkins rips Manchester United's Robin van Persie for a malicious elbow to the head during their clash at Upton Park. It's also alleged that Pearson's job was saved by the son of Leicester City's owner (a claim that was backed by Lineker).
