EPL Table: Latest Week 24 Results, Scores and 2015 Premier League Standings

Tom SunderlandFeb 7, 2015

Tottenham Hotspur stole a march on north London rivals Arsenal on Saturday as their hopes for a top-four finish were boosted by a 2-1 derby victory.

That wasn't the only derby result of Week 24, however, as Liverpool played to a 0-0 stalemate at Goodison Park, bringing an end to the Reds' three-match winning streak in league competition.

Those fierce fixtures stole the spotlight on Saturday, but there was drama to be witnessed all over the division, as Manchester City stalled in a home draw against Hull City, while Chelsea kept their pace at the summit.

Sunday Recap

Manchester United rallied to claim a 1-1 draw at West Ham United on Sunday, with Daley Blind striking late to seal a 92nd-minute equaliser for Louis van Gaal's men.

Cheikhou Kouyate took his chance sublimely in the opening minutes of the second half, juggling the ball in United's box before spinning it past goalkeeper David de Gea. Sky Sports' Matt Le Tissier was full of praise for the game's opener:

The Red Devils would struggle to find a response despite boasting a greater deal of possession at Upton Park, per WhoScored.com, in what's become a familiar storyline for Louis van Gaal's side.

The Hammers made it difficult for the Red Devils, but Blind clinched a result for United in a fixture that reminded travelling fans of their never-say-die attitude, albeit suffering late disappointment with Luke Shaw's sending-off for a second bookable offence.

Stoke City replicated similarly late heroics at Newcastle United and walked away from St. James' Park with a point to their name thanks to Peter Crouch's 90th-minute equaliser.

Jack Colback opened the scoring for the hosts on 74 minutes before Crouch's last-gasp header, with Squawka detailing just how close the two teams were in most aspects:

John Carver was denied a first home win as Magpies chief thanks to that draw and Sean Dyche will have been even more infuriated to see Burnley surrender a two-goal lead against West Brom, drawing 2-2.

Second-half goals from Brown Ideye and Chris Brunt cancelled out first-half strikes from Ashley Barnes and Danny Ings, although Dyche still managed to keep upbeat in the face of two dropped points, per Sky Sports:

Burnley, 17th, remain just two points and two places off the Baggies in 15th, but will rue a missed opportunity to leap over their West Midlands opponents in what could have been a tremendous win.

Saturday Recap

A Harry Kane brace on Saturday gave Spurs cause to believe their pursuit of a finish among the Premier League's top four is very much alive, coming back from a goal down to defeat Arsenal 2-1 at White Hart Lane.

Mesut Ozil put the Gunners in front after just 11 minutes, but after taking their foot off the gas, Arsene Wenger's men conceded two second-half goals to see Tottenham move level on points with Manchester United in third.

Spurs were so impressed with their resurgence that the club's official YouTube channel released footage of the home crowd's reaction upon witnessing Kane bag the game's winner:

The surprises kept coming on Saturday, too, after Hull managed to take a shock point from their trip to the Etihad Stadium, which could have been three had it not been for James Milner's equaliser in the 93rd minute.

David Meyler gave the Tigers a surprise lead against the reigning champions in a match that Squawka showed City dominated but failed to make all their chances tell:

Liverpool and Everton had an identically difficult time in striving to unearth a breakthrough at Goodison Park, where Steven Gerrard played in what will most likely be the last-ever Merseyside derby of his career.

With the Toffees sitting in the table's bottom half, it was a better result for them than it was Liverpool, whose hunt to hound down the top four suffered in the process. Liverpool writer Jim Boardman agreed:

The fixture was evenly balanced in most areas, although as Squawka pointed out, it was the visiting outfit who enjoyed more of the shots on goal:

If Hull's 1-1 draw was an opening for league leaders Chelsea to capitalise upon, Jose Mourinho's men did just that with a 2-1 victory at Aston Villa, where Jores Okore did give Paul Lambert's men some hope.

The defender pulled Villa level on 48 minutes after Eden Hazard opened the scoring early, but Branislav Ivanovic grabbed the winner in what Mourinho called a deserved win, per the official Premier League Twitter account:

Elsewhere, Sadio Mane and Joe Ledley salvaged 1-0 wins away from home for Southampton and Crystal Palace, respectively, with the Saints defeating Queens Park Rangers while Alan Pardew's Eagles soared past Leicester City.

Not long back from an Africa Cup of Nations campaign with Senegal, Mane rose in the 93rd minute with the only goal of the game at Loftus Road, per the official Saints Twitter account:

Jermain Defoe kept up his bright form at Sunderland to lead the Black Cats in their 1-1 draw at Swansea City, with Ki Sung-yueng equalising in the second half for Garry Monk's men.

Gus Poyet's side climb to 13th as a result and further away from the relegation scrap, with January acquisition Defoe appearing to have given the side a sought-after, reliable figurehead in attack.
