Gunners Hopeful Sanchez Back for Sunday
Wednesday, Feb. 11
David Hytner of The Guardian reported that Arsenal are hopeful that Alexis Sanchez will make a quick recovery from his knee issue:
"Alexis Sánchez has escaped serious injury after the shuddering tackle from Leicester City’s Matthew Upson on Tuesday night and Arsenal hope that the forward could be available for Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Middlesbrough.
[...]
There is relief over Sánchez, who had returned to the team against Leicester after a minor hamstring injury, which had seen him miss the previous two matches. Upson, the former Arsenal player, lunged in at him in the 29th minute to leave him clutching his knee.

Sanchez Injures Knee vs. Leicester
Tuesday, Feb. 10
Alexis Sanchez has seen a tremendous first season in English football put on hold after it was revealed the Arsenal attacker suffered a knee injury on Tuesday against Leicester.
Manager Arsene Wenger is not sure how long he'll be out, per Arsenal.com:
"Sanchez got a knock on his knee. I don’t think he was himself. From the moment he got this knock, he was never really comfortable. I don’t know for how long he will be out and whether he will be out or not. I haven’t seen the doctor.
"
Wenger was also asked if "he was okay to take Alexis off," to which he replied:
"Yes I was ready to take him off at half-time but he said, ‘no it’s okay, I can go on’. When I watched him play I thought, ‘No, that hasn’t [got better]’. Sometimes when you run it off it’s just a kick but he became worse and I didn’t see him in the second half.
"
Sanchez sent out a tweet updating fans on his condition:
In January, Wenger spoke highly of Sanchez's ability to adapt to the demands of the English top flight following his £35 million arrival from Barcelona, per Sky Sports:
"He is one of the faster adaptors to the Premier League I've seen. I believe it's because he feels well accepted by the other players. He feels he is an important player in the squad. Sanchez is a player who can play through the middle but in a different way to (Olivier) Giroud because of his mobility.
He has two major assets - the quality of his game and the quality of his receptions. He gets into areas where you can find him. When he gets the ball deep he can run at people but he can play further forward as well because of the timing of his runs.
"
If Sanchez were to miss time on the pitch, there will be a greater burden placed on the likes of Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla to impress as the club's main creative weapons.

The former Udinese talisman was especially helpful in dealing with the injury absence of Olivier Giroud earlier this season, helping out in front of goal and showcasing the smooth transition he's undergone.
It's now the South American whom the north Londoners may be without, though, as they go about proving that their offensive resources run deeper than Sanchez alone.
