Liverpool vs. West Ham: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview

Gianni VerschuerenJan 30, 2015

Liverpool will host West Ham United on Saturday in a clash of two teams sitting just outside the Premier League top five. With both clubs eyeing a European ticket, much will be at stake when they take to the hallowed pitch of Anfield.

The Reds haven't lost a Premier League match since mid-December, and while the Capital One Cup loss against league leaders Chelsea undoubtedly left a bitter taste in the mouths of the players, Brendan Rodgers' squad still has plenty of momentum heading into this match.

The same can't be said for the Hammers, who have won just one of their last five Premier League matches and haven't won at Anfield since 1963, according to The Docklands & East London Advertiser's Dave Evans.

While momentum is seemingly with the Reds, fans and pundits believe this may be the best chance the Hammers have had in years to break their winless streak at Anfield, spanning over 50 years.

Former MLS star Tony Meola is already discussing the potential ramifications of such a win with SiriusXM FC:

Ronnie 'Ticker" Boyce was a member of the Hammers squad that last won a match at Anfield back in 1963, and he told The Docklands & East London Advertiser's Dave Evans he believes the time has come to end the winless streak once and for all:

"

It is hard to believe that we haven’t won there in all that time. They were always a good side and it was a hard place to go, but we had some good teams as well in those days.

It is funny to think I was in the last team to win there, it was such a long time ago.

It is time we won at Liverpool again. They have not been playing that well and I am impressed with this West Ham squad. We can go there and win.

"

Boyce may not believe the Reds have been playing well, but some beg to differ. Liverpool haven't been beaten in the league since last year and have marched within four points of Arsenal, who currently occupy the fifth spot in the standings, good enough for a Europa League ticket.

Brendan Rodgers' men may have lost at Stamford Bridge to end their chances of winning this year's Capital One Cup, but former England international Gary Lineker was impressed by the squad's performance:

So was Rodgers himself, and as shared by the cub's official Twitter feed, the manager has seen his side's confidence grow with each positive result:

Daniel Sturridge is on schedule to return to the squad, according to the Liverpool Echo's Ian Doyle, and the prolific striker should give the team a healthy scoring boost as they look to avenge the 3-1 loss they suffered at Boleyn Ground in September.

The Anfield faithful will also have the opportunity to welcome Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing, former Reds who have been instrumental during the Hammers' surprisingly successful campaign. Both have scored five goals for their new club this season, according to WhoScored.

The Reds have plenty of momentum heading into this match, and it's pivotal the young squad walks away from the clash with another win. West Ham's last two losses have come at the hands of Arsenal and Chelsea, Premier League giants currently in contention for the European tickets.

Liverpool have joined that group after a rough start to the campaign, and in order to underline their ambition, they can't afford to drop a result against a club their main rivals have already beaten in previous weeks.

West Ham may sit above the Reds in the standings, but Saturday's match should underline that they don't belong to the elite of English football, unlike Liverpool. A win at Anfield would be a monumental result for the Hammers and a devastating blow to Liverpool, who may not overcome another setback in the race for the European slots.

Final Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 West Ham
