Events in the weekend's fourth round have blown the competition wide open, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur all being knocked out by lesser opponents.

Bradford's 4-2 defeat of Jose Mourinho's Blues at Stamford Bridge on Saturday was one of the biggest ever shocks in FA Cup history.

Mourinho branded it a "disgrace", per BBC Sport, but the Bantams march into the last 16 with incredible momentum to face either Sunderland or Fulham:

Similarly astonishing was City's 2-0 home loss to Championship side Middlesbrough, Kike wrapping things up in stoppage time with a breakaway goal as the Citizens desperately searched for an equaliser to Patrick Bamford's earlier strike.

On any other day, Leicester City's away defeat of Spurs and Crystal Palace's victory at St Mary's against the Premier League's third-placed Southampton would have been headline news, but it was a weekend full of giant killings.

With several of the favourites for this season's FA Cup falling by the wayside, the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are now the front-runners to lift the storied trophy in May.

LONDON, ENGLAND - MAY 17: Arsene Wenger manager of Arsenal (R) lifts the trophy in celebration alongside Lukas Podolski (L), Mikel Arteta (2L) and Thomas Vermaelen (2R) after the FA Cup with Budweiser Final match between Arsenal and Hull City at Wembley

However, Arsene Wenger's defending champions had to hang on to see off Brighton and Hove Albion 3-2 on Sunday, while United and Liverpool both have fourth-round replays to negotiate after playing out goalless draws against Cambridge United and Bolton Wanderers, respectively.

Indeed, the Red Devils' inability to see off League Two Cambridge on Friday now seems less of a shock given the weekend's events, per football writer Daniel Storey, and Louis van Gaal will no doubt be confident of going far in the tournament:

Swansea City were another Premier League casualty in the fourth round, as they were beaten 3-1 by Blackburn Rovers, while West Bromwich Albion managed to see off local rivals Birmingham to squeeze through to the last 16.

After the surprises of the fourth round, the outcome of the fifth round is almost impossible to call, but there is no doubt that the remaining Premier League clubs will be aware of the potential pitfalls of complacency.

Monday's draw has thrown up some terrific contests, and if the weekend's action has proven anything, it's that the FA Cup is still alive and kicking, with the last 16 set to be equally entertaining.
