Lazio vs. AC Milan: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview

Tom SunderlandJan 23, 2015

Lazio can spring back to form against Milan on Saturday after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Napoli in their last outing, hoping to steer their pursuit of a top-three finish back on track.

The Rossoneri are yet to claim victory in 2015 and will have gone five games without a victory unless they can manage to surprise in Rome this weekend.

Filippo Inzaghi's concerns are clear following the recent 1-0 defeat at home to Atalanta, but a win in the Italian capital would encourage the notion that Milan can still battle against Serie A's top sides.

Lazio Avoiding Double Home Trouble

Lazio haven't suffered back-to-back Serie A defeats at the Stadio Olimpico since 2013, when a November loss to Genoa was followed up by a 4-2 fall at the hands of Napoli.

That streak happened to come during one of the club's worst patches of form in recent seasons, but Stefano Pioli's side are a far different creature at present, with last week's Azzurri result something of an anomaly.

That loss came after the Biancazzurri managed to go six games unbeaten in league competition, equalling their best run of the 2014-15 campaign thus far.

As James Horncastle of BT Sport revealed, this Saturday's fixture will also debut the club's new retro kit, a throwback to their 1980s style:

Milan could perhaps use a new strip of their own, anything to enact some kind of revolution among the players, having now not won a game since mid-December.

This weekend's travelling outfit are unbeaten in two away trips, drawing against Roma and Torino, but the chances of a win in Rome look slim considering their last away victory was all the way back in October.

Key Battle

Stefan De Vrij vs. Jeremy Menez

There's no certainty that star defender Stefan De Vrij will be available to feature against Milan this weekend, but Lazio's back line will look significantly more assured with the Dutchman present.

Football Italia confirmed that both he and Lucas Biglia will undergo late fitness tests prior to the fixture, where De Vrij's presence at the back would be a welcome return:

If he does come back into the side, Milan's Jeremy Menez will be the centre-back's primary concern, Milan's top scorer this season and the joint fourth-highest scorer in Serie A.

Jack Lang of the Mirror touches upon the rise from the ashes of his Paris Saint-Germain despair that Menez has enjoyed at the San Siro, a key to any hopes Milan have in beating Lazio on Saturday:

At times, the Frenchman looks like Milan's only bright spark, the sole component possessing a genuine thirst to take the ball to his foe and do damage as swiftly as possible.

But De Vrij is no slouch, and if the centre-back does stage a return, one can expect him to be doing all in his power to shut Menez down, although a lack of full fitness may inhibit his efforts.
