Tottenham Hotspur vs. Chelsea: Score, Grades, Reaction from London Derby
Tottenham Hotspur 5-3 Chelsea
Harry Kane scored twice as Tottenham Hotspur opened the new year in style with a 5-3 defeat of Chelsea at White Hart Lane.
Diego Costa had opened the scoring for the Stamford Bridge club in the 18th minute, but Kane, Danny Rose and an Andros Townsend penalty gave Spurs a 3-1 lead at the interval.

Kane added a second seven minutes into the second half before Eden Hazard pulled one back for Chelsea in the 61st minute.
Nacer Chadli, though, restored the home side's three-goal advantage in the 78th minute before John Terry spared some Chelsea blushes by making it 5-3 with three minutes remaining.

Tottenham opened the game brightly and Kyle Walker chased down the right before his cross was cut out by Gary Cahill, while Costa just missed out on connecting with a Cesc Fabregas ball over the top.
The home side were edging the contest in the opening period, and Cesar Azpilicueta needed to be alert to thwart a Harry Kane ball to Ryan Mason inside the Chelsea area.
But the Spurs midfielder was also held up by a hamstring injury and was forced to leave the field as a result, with Mousa Dembele replacing him.
Chelsea had found their feet in the game, though, and they were ahead in the 18th minute.
Hazard broke down the right and evaded two challenges before striking the post. Fortunately for the Blues, the rebound fell to Oscar, who aimed for goal. But with his effort heading wide, Costa turned the effort home from close range.
Jan Vertonghen was lucky to escape a caution after a poor challenge on Hazard, but the Belgian was able to continue.
But Spurs were not out of the match and on the half-hour mark, they found an equaliser. Kane cut in from the left flank and passed between Branislav Ivanovic and Oscar before firing home from the outside of the area.
Nacer Chadli almost gave Spurs a 2-1 advantage before half-time, but when his shot struck the outside of the post, the assistant referee also indicated an infringement.
But in the 44th minute, Rose did make it 2-1. Christian Eriksen slipped the ball into the on-running Chadli with the woodwork again denying the Belgian, but the Tottenham left-back was chasing in to slot home.
Tottenham were not done with their first-half scoring at that point, though, and secured a two-goal advantage in the fourth minute of injury time.
Kane was felled by Cahill inside the area, prompting referee Phil Dowd to point to the spot, and Townsend stepped up and beat Thibaut Courtois.
Jose Mourinho made a change at the interval with Ramires coming on for Oscar to add a little more steel to Chelsea.
Seven minutes into the second half, Kane effectively sealed the points with a beautiful piece of skill. After receiving the ball, the forward rolled the ball beyond Nemanja Matic before sliding a curling ball past John Terry and Courtois to make it 4-1.
Chelsea pulled a goal back on the hour mark after Federico Fazio carelessly gave the ball away to Hazard just inside the Spurs half. The Belgian raced forward before interchanging passes with Fabregas and beating Hugo Lloris from inside the area.
Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino brought on Paulinho for Townsend midway through the second period.
The Brazilian almost set up Kane for a hat-trick with his first touch, a clipped ball from the flank, but the angle was too wide for the forward to convert.
Mourinho made a further change in the 72nd minute when he threw on Mohamed Salah for Willian.
Chelsea almost clawed another goal back in the 76th minute, but Lloris produced a fine diving save to deny Azpilicueta.
But Spurs increased their score once more in the 78th minute with Chadli earning a deserved goal. Kane was again instrumental when he picked out the Belgian on the corner of the Chelsea area, and Chadli weaved his way into the box before firing past Courtois.
Ramires broke clear in the 84th minute, but his shot drifted wide of goal as Chelsea began to run out of time.
Terry did grab a goal for the Blues three minutes before the end when he connected with a Hazard cross, but it was a case of too little, too late.
Selected Player Ratings
Nacer Chadli: A
Great display by the Belgium international, who was full of running and a lively threat to Chelsea. He played his part in Rose's goal before half-time and fully deserved his own strike for Spurs' fifth.
Gary Cahill: B
Cahill was slow to react to Ivanovic's pass before fouling Kane for Tottenham's late first-half penalty in a rare off-day for the Chelsea defender.
Harry Kane: A+
The Tottenham forward has really come to prominence this season and proved once more why he is such a burgeoning talent. Great strike for Spurs' equaliser, but his second was simply sublime.
What's Ahead
The attentions of both clubs will now centre on the FA Cup third round this weekend.
The cup represents a genuine chance of silverware for Tottenham, leaving head coach Pochettino to decide on whether to rest any first-team regulars for the all-Premier League tie at Burnley on Monday.
Chelsea manager Mourinho is likely to hand rest to some of his star names when Watford of the Championship visit Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
