Under Armour All-America Game 2015: 5 Players to Watch
A bevy of the nation’s top prep seniors will be on display Friday during the 2015 Under Armour All-America Game, where 25 prospects currently rated as 5-star recruits will compete.
With that type of star power on hand, fans will get a glimpse of some of college football’s future stars.
Which players will fans need to play close attention to during the game?
Players listed in alphabetical order.
Terry Beckner Jr.
1 of 5Terry Beckner Jr., the 5-star product from Illinois, is rated as a defensive end, but he will line up at defensive tackle during this week’s festivities.
At 6’4”, 293 pounds, Beckner—who notched 118 tackles and nine sacks as a junior—is physically suited for the demands of playing on the inside of the defensive line.
Playing defensive tackle will get to showcase the versatility in his game.
Beckner has an opportunity to show why schools such as Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Missouri and Ohio State will battle for his signature all the way until national signing day.
Soso Jamabo
2 of 5After a dominant senior season in which he rushed for 2,279 yards and 44 touchdowns, Soso Jamabo was bumped up the rankings. He’s now a 5-star prospect and the nation’s top-ranked running back.
The 6’3”, 210-pounder will now try and showcase why that honor was bestowed upon him.
Schools such as UCLA, Notre Dame and Texas A&M are in hot pursuit of his commitment, and a big performance on the national stage will cement his status as one of the nation’s top skill players in the 2015 class.
Derwin James
3 of 5One player who won’t have to travel far for this week’s event is 5-star safety and Florida State commitment Derwin James, who hails from nearby Haines City, Florida.
The 6’2”, 201-pounder—the nation’s No. 6 player overall in the 2015 class—hasn't been shy about his goals entering this week’s festivities.
“I’m here to bring the pain on defense,” James told Josh Newberg of Noles247. “I’m here to lock everybody up and make a run at being the No. 1 player overall.”
Watching the electric athlete try to prove his point will make Friday’s game a must-see event for recruiting analysts and fans across the nation.
Canton Kaumatule
4 of 5At 6’7”, 290-pounds, 4-star defensive end and current Oregon pledge Canton Kaumatule is a prospect who will immediately pass the eye test.
The Hawaii native will make the long trek to the Sunshine State in hopes of proving he is one of the nation’s elite prospects in the 2015 cycle. According to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, Kaumatule was initially rated as the nation’s top overall prospect in the first batch of rankings.
He’s already off to a fast start with a strong performance in the first day of practice, per Woody Wommack of Rivals.
Kyler Murray
5 of 5The quarterbacks who will take the field on both sides are part of the main attraction of this week’s game. However, the all-star setting is a favorable atmosphere for 5-star Texas standout Kyler Murray to put on a show.
As noted by Brian Perroni of GigEm247, Murray threw for 4,713 yards and 54 touchdowns en route to leading Allen High School to its third consecutive state title.
Given his penchant to create big plays with his arms and legs, Murray is a candidate to enjoy a strong showing during the week and in the game on Friday.
