Tim Howard Amends New Book After Brad Friedel Criticism
Tim Howard is set to amend his new book, entitled The Keeper, in the wake of a recent controversy surrounding the Everton goalkeeper's assertion that compatriot Brad Friedel attempted to block his 2003 move to Manchester United.
In the first copies of the book, Howard writes on his move from MLS to Old Trafford that "the legal team at Manchester United ... told me that Brad hadn't merely refused to sign a statement on my behalf, he had actively tried to block my transfer," an accusation Tottenham keeper Friedel condemned as "complete garbage," per Doug McIntyre of ESPN FC.

It now seems that Howard has decided to take Friedel at his word, the 35-year-old USA World Cup star releasing a statement on Twitter on Tuesday regarding amendments to future copies of his book:
Friedel initially wanted an apology for Howard's accusations, per McIntyre, but is likely to be satisfied with Tuesday's admission that he did not attempt to block his former international team-mate's work permit.
Howard eventually made the move to United and achieved modest success, winning the FA and League Cups before switching to Everton where he has established himself as one of the Premier League's top keepers, per talkSPORT's Ian Abrahams:
Howard is currently on a year-long break from international duty with the USA, per US Soccer, but continues to perform well for Roberto Martinez's Toffees, who are currently 10th in the English top flight.
It will be interesting to see what kind of response, if any, Friedel will have following Howard's statement.
