Ramsey's Muscle Injury 'Grade One'

Ramsey Injures Hamstring vs. Leicester

Tuesday, Feb. 10

Ramsey was forced out of Feb. 10's match against Leicester with this problem.

The Welshman had managed to stay fit for the majority of this campaign and again figured prominently as a major instrument in Wenger's team, but the club confirmed their loss:

This was the second time in as many seasons that Ramsey picked up an injury during the winter schedule, having sat out three months with a thigh problem at the beginning of 2014.

This latest setback heaped further woe on Wenger's core in particular, with Jack Wilshere currently recovering from an ankle blow that has kept him out of action since November.

That lack of depth led Wenger to recalling Francis Coquelin from his loan spell at Charlton Athletic, per ESPN FC, such was their dire need for cover:

Ramsey has struggled to recapture the same outstanding form that made him such a key component in the 2013-14 campaign but has nevertheless been a backbone in midfield, particularly among other absences.

The former Cardiff City prodigy netted a brace in Arsenal's final Champions League group-stage clash against Galatasaray in December, leading Wenger to heap praise on his playmaker, per ESPN:

"

When he took the shot I thought that was maybe not the best idea. But the way he took it, it flew in. The goals he is scoring is linked to his performances at the moment and that certainly helps his confidence to score goals like that.

"

In his absence, the north Londoners have looked to Santi Cazorla to plug the engine-room void, something he has duly delivered on.
