Wednesday Update

Chelsea and Manchester City both bagged comfortable wins in the final round of group matches in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday.
The Blues from London smashed Sporting 6-0 in their game, with young Dominic Solanke notching a hat-trick. Chelsea are expected to field academy prospect Ruben Loftus-Cheek when the two senior sides clash later on in the day, and on this evidence, 17-year-old Solanke can't be far off making the first-team squad on a much more regular basis.

Here's a look at the youngster's third and final goal, courtesy of the Chelsea Indonesian Supporters Club Twitter account:
Jeremie Boga also helped himself to a brace in the match, while Lamisha Musonda completed the rout with a wonderful goal. Chelsea top the group ahead of Schalke 04; the Germans hammered SK Maribor 5-1 to finish alongside the Blues on 15 points.
Manchester City's youngsters also put in an excellent display in their match, dispatching of AS Roma 4-0 away from home. After the opening of the City Football Academy earlier in the week, excitement peaked regarding the club's bright future, and there is clearly talent aplenty to work with if this performance is anything to go by.

The win means that Patrick Vieira's team have won all six of their group games, as four goals in the final 20 minutes blitzed their Italian opponents. Brandon Barker, who scored City's fourth on the day, was naturally delighted with the result:
In the other game in Group E, Bayern Munich came from a goal down to beat CSKA Moscow 3-2.
Elsewhere, in Group H, FC Porto picked up the point they needed to confirm their qualification to the last-16 of the competition, drawing 1-1 with group winners Shakhtar Donetsk. Athletic Bilbao, who still stood a chance of qualifying on Matchday 6, needed a Shakhtar victory, and subsequently they go out despite a 4-0 win over BATE Borisov.
There was also one match Group D, which saw Borussia Dortmund and Anderlecht play out a 1-1 draw. The result means that the young Belgians are through to the last-16, even though they have one more match to play against Galatasaray.
Tuesday Update
Liverpool bagged two goals in 13 minutes of stoppage time to claim the margin of victory they needed as they beat Basel 3-0 to make the last 16 of the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday.
Daniel Cleary and Jerome Sinclair added their late strikes to Ryan Kent's terrific opener to see themselves through with Real in Group B, the Reds impressively registering the victory by at least two clear goals that they had needed.
The huge amount of stoppage time that granted the hosts their opportunity came as a result of a nasty collision for Liverpool's Sam Hart, although the Liverpool Echo's James Pearce provided good news on his progress:
It was a somewhat easier passage through to the knockout rounds for Arsenal as the Gunners beat Galatasaray 3-1.
Kerem Caliskan opened the scoring early on for the Turkish club, but Stephy Mavididi and Tyrell Robinson netted before the break, and Aaron Eyoma just after to wrap things up for the visitors for a fourth win in the competition so far.
Ludogorets' misery in the competition was finally completed as they lost 6-0 to Real, conceding their 27th goal in a tournament in which they have failed to score once.
Borja Mayoral, 17, bagged himself a hat-trick, with Sergio Molina scoring twice before a late own-goal compounded the visitors' misery. Spanish football writer Nicholas Rigg summed things up well:
Group A also finished up on Tuesday as Atletico Madrid confirmed their top spot with a convincing 3-0 victory over Juventus, with Olympiacos just behind them in second after the Greek side beat Malmo 2-0 at home.
Ajax also secured first place in their group with a convincing 4-1 home victory over Apoel Nicosia, the Cypriot side undone as Zakaria El Azzouzi scored twice, per Football Oranje:
"FT Ajax U19'S are group winners in the UEFA Youth League after a 4-1 win over APOEL. El Azzouzi x 2, Van de Beek and Nouri scored.

Finally, Benfica and Zenit St Petersburg qualified out of Group C in first and second respectively, the Portuguese side battering Bayer Leverkusen 4-1 while the Russians beat Monaco 3-1 away from home.
Wednesday will see the completion of groups D, E, G and H with Porto and Athletic both looking for vital wins that could decide their fate as to who qualifies behind Shakhtar Donetsk.
