Week 14 NFL Picks: Final Vegas Odds and Predictions for Sunday's Slate

Brian MaziqueDec 6, 2014

With just four weeks remaining in the NFL season, the playoff push is in full swing. Both the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos can clinch a playoff spot with a win and some help on Sunday.

If the Colts can take down the Cleveland Browns and the Houston Texans fall to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Indy will win its second straight AFC South championship.

The Broncos' scenario is much more complicated.

To clinch a playoff berth, Peyton Manning and Co. have to beat the Buffalo Bills. They also needed losses or ties from the Kansas City Chiefs and Texans, as well as losses from the Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers and Browns.

It's possible, but more likely Denver wraps up a spot in Week 15.

Here are my predictions for every game on Sunday's schedule, as well as odds for each contest. Just beneath the table is a closer look at three marquee games.

Kansas City Will Stumble in Arizona

With the expected return of Larry Fitzgerald to the Arizona Cardinals lineup, per Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com, the team will have the weapons it needs to knock off the Chiefs.

Arizona's offense has struggled mightily in the last two games, which were both losses. It's averaging just 10.5 points per game in that span, but both of those contests were played without Fitzgerald.

The struggle to amount an effective passing game is something the Chiefs can relate to. Coming into the game with the Cardinals, Kansas City is ranked 30th in passing yards per game.

Figure this to be a low-scoring affair, but one that sees Arizona make the requisite plays in the passing game to get the win.

Seattle Will Stay Hot

The light has seemingly come on for the Seattle Seahawks in the last two weeks. After consecutive 19-3 wins over their primary challengers in the NFC West, the Super Bowl champions are regaining their swagger.

Heading to the City of Brotherly Love to take on the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles is a stern test, but it's one Russell Wilson and Co. will pass.

This game will come down to whether the Seahawks can slow down the Eagles' run game. If LeSean McCoy gets going early, it will set up the play-action pass for Mark Sanchez. He's always excelled at this part of the game, and he could have success throwing intermediate routes.

Over the last two weeks, the Seahawks have smashed the Niners and Cardinals' rushing attacks. By allowing exactly 64 yards on the ground to both teams, the Seahawks made each squad's attack one-dimensional.

With the Legion of Boom still playing great football in the secondary, Seattle is in good hands in that situation.

Look for a similar string of events against the Eagles on Sunday.

New England Will Start Another Winning Streak

FOXBORO, MA - SEPTEMBER 18: Mark Anderson #95 of the New England Patriots sacks Philip Rivers #17 of the San Diego Chargers as Kyle Love #74 of the New England Patriots recovers a fumble in the second half at Gillette Stadium on September 18, 2011 in

The New England Patriots lost to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field last week, but the way Aaron Rodgers is playing at home, the 1985 Chicago Bears would probably come up short against him in Wisconsin.

Call me crazy, but I still think the Patriots are the best team in the NFL.

They will take steps to prove that notion correct on Sunday night against the San Diego Chargers. The Bolts have been streaky all season. Currently, they are on a three-game winning streak that began by halting an identical slide.

San Diego's running game is challenged, to say the least. It's ranked 28th in the NFL, and that puts a lot of pressure on Philip Rivers to make all the plays in the passing game. Without dynamic receivers on both sides of the field, that's a task against a Bill Belichick defense.

The Packers were able to have success because Rodgers is the best player on the planet right now, but also because both Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb can command double teams beyond 15 yards.

The Chargers don't have two receivers like that, and tight end Antonio Gates no longer has the wheels to stretch a defense. The Patriots will stifle the Chargers' attempts to run the ball and contain Rivers and the passing game en route to their 10th win of the season.
