College Football Playoff Championship Predictions
One of the biggest parts of enjoying the 2014 college football season was the focus on which four teams would make the first-ever CFP. Many teams graced the Top Four over the course of the year, but the final rankings are now set.
It hasn't come without debate, though, such as how the voting committee has handled the Florida State Seminoles, who have yet to lose a game but haven't looked overly convincing in the process.
| Rose Bowl | No. 2 Oregon Ducks vs. No. 3 Florida State Seminoles |
| Sugar Bowl | No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide vs. No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes |
| Championship Game | No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide vs. No. 3 Oregon Ducks |
The Seminoles, Oregon Ducks and Ohio State Buckeyes all deserve to be in the playoff discussion, but the program with the best chance of walking away with the national championship is the Alabama Crimson Tide.
With an offensive unit ranked 17th in the nation averaging 37.1 points per game (22nd overall in passing yards and 36th overall in rushing yards), Alabama is racking up big points this season instead of defeating teams with a steady rushing attack.
Alabama safety Nick Perry spoke to Alex Scarborough of ESPN.com about how dangerous this year’s Crimson Tide team has been.
“You know, usually Bama is … defense and run the ball, but now we can play a whole different type of game," said Perry. "We can put up points or we can [shut down on] defense, and I think that’s scary for the opposing team.”
The offense deserves plenty of credit for the success of the Crimson Tide this season, but the team is still predicated on the elite play of the defense. Even after allowing 44 points in the Iron Bowl, Alabama is ranked fourth in the nation, allowing 16.6 points per game.
Led by the championship experience of head coach Nick Saban, the Crimson Tide are the team best prepared for the playoff bracket.
The national championship is Alabama’s to lose.
