Chelsea March On

LONDON, ENGLAND - DECEMBER 03: Loic Remy of Chelsea (2L) celebrates scoring their third goal with Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard and Cesar Azpilicueta of Chelsea during the Barclays Premier League match between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridg

Jose Mourinho's Blues side took their unbeaten streak in the league so far this season to 14 matches as Chelsea turned Spurs over in impressive fashion, despite the absence through suspension of Diego Costa.

The hosts weathered a bright start from Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday to take the lead through Eden Hazard in the 19th minute after a fine exchange of passes with Didier Drogba in the penalty area.

The Ivorian himself then got on the scoresheet minutes later, doubling the hosts' lead after a dismal clearance from Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris, per The Times's Oliver Kay:

At 2-0 down, Tottenham never truly looked like clawing their way back into the match and substitute Loic Remy sealed things for Chelsea in the 73rd minute as he outmuscled Jan Vertonghen on the edge of the penalty area before finishing cooly to make it 3-0.

Chelsea were ruthless in a match which saw much endeavour from Mauricio Pochettino's men, per The Mirror's Oliver Holt, but the loss sees Spurs slip to 10th in the table:

City look to be Chelsea's only real challengers for the title this season and they kept pace with the Blues courtesy of a 4-1 win away to Sunderland and the six-point gap between the two sides remains.

Manchester United Find the Momentum Button

It's a good time to be a Manchester United fan of late, and after the Red Devils reached a 2014-15 high of three successive victories after beating Hull City on Saturday, a 2-1 victory over Stoke City maintained their pace.

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - DECEMBER 02: Ander Herrera of Manchester United challenges Bojan Krkic of Stoke City during the Barclays Premier League match between Manchester United and Stoke City at Old Trafford on December 2, 2014 in Manchester, England. (Pho

Manager Louis van Gaal would surely concede that Tuesday's performance wasn't the same lesson in domination that they gave to the Tigers over the weekend, but at present, the team will take every win they can get.

Things appear to be improving with each passing fixture at Old Trafford. Ander Herrera was impressive in setting up Marouane Fellaini's headed opener, while Ashley Young continued his fine form pushed back into a defensive role.

Steven N'Zonzi hit back to equalise for the Potters, but Juan Mata sent in a second-half free-kick that would prove decisive. The fixture also brought a second league start for academy graduate James Wilson, who impressed FourFourTwo's Elko Born:

Per WhoScored.com, United accounted for 63.5 percent of possession against Stoke, and were in every regard to be considered deserving victors.

All in all, there's a great deal for Van Gaal to be upbeat about, and when (or if) the club's injury crisis is ever put in the rear-view mirror, there should only be further improvements to look forward to.

Liverpool Closing the Top-Half Gap

LEICESTER, ENGLAND - DECEMBER 02: Jordan Henderson of Liverpool celebrates after scoring his team's third goal during the Barclays Premier League match between Leicester City and Liverpool at The King Power Stadium on December 2, 2014 in Leicester, Engla

A 3-1 win away at Leicester City on Tuesday evening gave Liverpool their second victory in a row, with goals from Adam Lallana, Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson seeing them past the Foxes.

Nigel Pearson's men threatened to upset the Reds' ship after a Leonardo Ulloa shot ricocheted into the net via Simon Mignolet to open the scoring, Match of the Day's Gary Lineker lambasting the Belgian's display:

The visiting Merseysiders had the resolve to wade through that setback, though, and a red card for Leicester captain Wes Morgan helped ease them into the top half of the table.

Anfield supporters may be overjoyed to see hints of improvement from their players, too, after WhoScored showed this result as being a unique display of fortitude for Rodgers' men:

They can only hope that things continue to get better from here, though, and no matter how encouraging the three points are, it did come against a team currently wallowing at the foot of the standings.

Nevertheless, Liverpool are into the top 10 and will now seek to stay there, with a home fixture against Sunderland on Saturday promising to yield more positives.
